1 Āyurvedic Dctr: Educatinal Outline fr Cmpetency The Āyurvedic Dctr uses the same diagnstic tls and therapeutic methds as the practitiner but with greater depth f knwledge and breadth f experience. The dctr has a much deeper understanding f the histry, classical texts and pathlgy (vikriti vijnan) f Āyurveda than des the practitiner. Their verview knwledge f Western medicine and medical reprts enables them t interface smthly with the medical prfessin. They are well versed in all the branches f Āyurveda, including: EENT (shalakya tantra), psychiatry (bhūtavidyā/manvijñāna), geriatrics (jara chikitsa), surgery (shalya tantra theretical knwledge nly), pediatrics (kaumārabhṛtya), and are capable f caring fr children under the age f tw. They pssess strnger research skills than are needed at the practitiner level. The dctr als has significantly mre clinical experience based n a mre extensive internship, which is nt currently included in this dcument. The recmmended hurly range f educatinal training fr this categry is hurs. Prerequisite: 6 credits f cllege level anatmy & physilgy. (Nte: a cllege level credit is defined as 15 cntact hurs per credit unit. This is a standard seen at mst universities/clleges that run n a semester schedule. It is als in agreement with the federal definitin f a credit hur.)
