4 Teddy Bears Picnic! Tuesday 8 th August This will be held at Dudley Road Park from 11am-1pm and it s free for all! Activities such as Arts & Crafts and please don t forget to bring your teddy bear, blanket & a picnic! Raising Children Parenting Programme New for September! Hunstanton Beach! Tuesday 15 th August We will be leaving the Children s Centre at 8.30am and expect to be back at the Children s Centre by 6:30pm. Cost is 5 per seat on the coach. Payments to be paid when booking. Or speak to Angela (Family Worker) about paying with Time Credits. Please book at reception and if you have any queries about any of these events please contact: The Fields Childrens Centre on: Limited Places! We will be running the popular Raising Children course again in the Autumn Term. This course covers areas such as children s needs, parenting styles, understanding challenging behaviour and looking after ourselves as parents. Please sign up in Reception if you are interested, or talk to Alex or Jacqueline (Family Workers) for more information.

5 Activity details Health, learning and development Stay and Play groups: ABC group Mondays Together Playdays These groups have a different theme each week and help your child to learn through play. They are a fun way for you to learn about your child s development, enjoy time together and meet other parents. You can also talk to us if you are worried about your child s development. The activities are based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Please wear old clothes for messy play! 2 charge per family, per session (except for Mondays Together). Discharge clinic Postnatal Clinic- appointment only via your midwife. Ducklings group For parents and carers with a child who has been diagnosed with a special educational need or disability. We can provide support and help you to find information or other services you require. You can also meet other parents and their children and enjoy time with your child. The activities will support the development of your child through the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Please speak to Mel Howard (Family Worker) about a referral if you are interested in attending. East Barnwell Childminder group Everyone is welcome to come and play at this friendly group run by local childminders. You may wish to meet others, consider a childminder as a childcare option or look into becoming a childminder yourself! 50p voluntary donation per adult. Free Swim for All A chance for families to swim together for free! Collect your swim pass from one of the following Children s Centres to enable you to access the session: The Arc, Cherry Hinton, Chesterton, The Fields, North Cambridge or Romsey Mill. Growing Together A small group who meet regularly to look at how babies develop and the importance of a parents role in this. Please speak to a Family Worker for more information.

6 Guided Adult and Child Swim Abbey Swimming Pool is offering 2 x half an hour swim sessions, giving parents/ carers the opportunity to swim with their child whilst receiving advice and support from the in pool swimming teacher. Suitable for children who are new to the water. Although booking is not required, families will be allocated a place in the pool on a first come first served basis. Maternity clinic Antenatal and Postnatal Clinicappointment only. New Parents group An opportunity to meet other parents/ carers to chat and share experiences over a cup of tea/coffee. Postnatal and breastfeeding support available. 2 charge per family, per session. Well Baby clinic Staff from the Health Visiting team will be present to give advice about feeding, behaviour and minor illnesses as well as reassurance and support to parents. Parents and carers are all welcome with their children. Your baby can also be weighed at the clinic but please be alert to recommendations in your red books - healthy babies do not need frequent weighing! Parent groups Bookstart/ Clothes Swap/ Cookbags/ Toy Library Hire Come and swap your unwanted children s clothes for others, borrow one of our Cookbags complete with a recipe card, hire toys from the Toy Library or join the Bookstart scheme! Parent Forum A friendly group who meet regularly to give parents and carers the chance to have their say about the services we provide and look at how we can improve them in future. Parenting Courses The Centre runs Incredible Years and Raising Children, two popular parenting courses which cover areas such as encouraging your child s development, and strategies for positive behaviour management. These courses are free and a great opportunity to meet other parents, as well as picking up some tips and new skills. A free crèche is also provided. 7 Support and community Adult Education Maths and Literacy Classes Free adult education classes giving you the opportunity to brush up your skills and gain a qualification. Free crèche available for some classes. Please enquire at reception for more details. ESOL Class English class for speakers of other languages. Please speak to Jacqueline Ogden (Family Worker) if you would like to add your name to the list. Free crèche available on Tuesdays.
