I currently work in British Columbia, hence will be attending meetings with the local chapter up here. I do not see the benefit of what SVC membership provides. An example is the downtown PM meeting. It is a waste of time...no facilitator...no agenda. It is sadly a huge waste of 90 minutes of my time. I don't see the events and activities local to this area that help promote obtaining my PDUs and or extending my knowledge during normal working hours. Most events are after hours and don't really assist with knowledge expansion. They seem to be more about the chapter meetings and events to promote PMI. I have not been active in the chapter for many years. I lost interest maybe five or more years ago when the leadership declined especially around the training offered or facilitated by the chapter. Therefore, I have no idea whether my prior concerns have been resolved. I have not used it - yet. Any meeting would at least 3 hours round trip. There may be some online benefits I should explore. No communications about upcoming events. Did not hear from members when I posted question. Nobody's home :( Outdated info and events to costly. Outreach from the e-board members is virtually non-existent. They have too much emphasis on software PM, not broad enough for other professions. Every seminar, talk, discussion seems to cost something. I don't mind paying for classes, but every function? The networking events are a bit expensive. I'm not at a point where I can spend at that level. I undertsand its a valuable tool and resource, but its just a bit out of reach.yep.

A lot of PMI comes across as Self Important, but isn't viewed as God's Gift to the profession of Project Management by the project management community... Focus less on creating new things for me to pay for, and focus more on furthering the credibility of project management in general. If I get one more offering me a PMR or PMLMNOP boot camp for $24,523, I'll quit. Although I am not as active in my local chapter as I would like to be, I enjoy the newsletters and the event announcements so that as my calendar permits I can attend and meet new people. Being new to the PMI-SVC chapter I don't have a lot to offer in feedback. I have learned things from every lunchtime event I have attended and will be attending more as my projects allow. I would have liked to see more options for responding as you went from somewhat satisfied to very satisfied without having a satisfied option. Chapter has a great system for notifying members when they have earned PDUs, provides electronic certificates, and provides guidance on how to claim PDUs. Dinner meetings are interesting, but too expensive. Good new's is my company is going to invest in Sacramento area in I want PMI Chapter to benefit from there. Great job! Just haven't been able to attend monthly chapter meetings due to a standing schedule conflict, but I enjoy them when I can attend. I am from Sacramento but currently managing projects in Honduras. I am grateful to be part of the PMI charter of Sac I am new to the chapter and recently received my PMP Certification. I am looking forward to attending future events and networking and gathering new information in my field. I am very happy with the number of relatively low cost opportunities to earn PDUs provided by the chapter. I am unhappy with the volunteer coordination in the chapter. I completed the volunteer orientation at the end of 2009 and beginning of I expressed interest in volunteering via forms at the orientation, the website, and monthly meetings. In all but one case, I heard nothing back. In the one that I did hear back, the communication was spotting, with huge gaps in time. By the time the organizer was ready to do something, my schedule was full with other activities. I don't know if I'm an anomoly or if this is a systemic problem. I do know that when I do attend monthly meetings, I generally hear of a continuing need for more volunteers. I appreciated the one-day Saturday workshops. I hope we get more opportunities to participate in more of those in the future. Thanks for your work on this survey. I know it took effort, and I appreciate the opportunity to provide input. I did the survey based on the web page primarily as I have yet to have the opportunity to attend the functions, however what I saw on the web was very informative and I am looking forward to my first opportunity. I just recently joined. I don't fully understand what is available to me through the Sacramento Valley chapter. Perhaps I need to work at it a bit more.

I feel that PMI is becomming an industry unto itself, with methodologies sold over discipline. Employment, successful projects, with volunteers filling in for members in trouble, could be a more successful paradym, as though a brotherhood of a Guild. I have ed officers in the past about questions and never received a response.i'd like to participate in a session(s) re agile project management. I have not attended any of your webinars or other events, I wish I could, but I work in Palo Alto and rarely am I at home. But, I want to help you out. I have not been taking advantage of central Sac Valley Chapter activities for a while, since we have a very active local forum which I helped start, and I get my networking and PDUs satisfied with that monthly group. I have not participated in PMI events as I hope hoped to when I first joined. Several factors have attributed: (1) Cost of most training events have made them prohibitive; (2) Location - Example: Breakfast meetings are either downtown or in Rancho Cordova. Nothing at the north end of town (Roseville, etc.) I have only been a member of the SAcramento Valley Chapter on about one month. I am not familiar with all the services offered and have not had an opportunity to engage in chapter activities. I just joined PMI and haven't really had a chance to look through the website, so my responses to some of the questions are probably not thorough. I know people that are very involved in the Sacramento chapter. I have not been very involved and that is only by choice due to managing work life balance. I do browse through correspondance and offerings, see good things going on, just no time to participate right now. I like the chapter - I feel like the leadership is a bit cliquish, and the opportunities to serve and contribute have been guided heavily by this group, while motives and agendas are not clear to the rest of the chapter. There are some overlapping groups/initiatives that seem to impact the quality of the content, because it is being split across different groups with different agendas, and not unified. I like the variety of the forums, and the information that they present is helpful. I would like to see more classes. The Silicon Valley chapter has a career development workshop that offers classes on how to apply project management techniques on the job. That might be something for the Sacramento Valley Chapter to consider. I live 1 hour fomr the Sac Valley chapter and just do not have the time to take off from work to attend chapter fuctions. I am also very involved in my local community and often do not hae weekends available either. Sac Valley seems to be a good chapter but due to the distance and time I am not involved with it. I rarely visit the web site. slides from past events are not consistently posted to the web site. I often participate in lunchtime presentations (forums) including the Government Forum, Scheduling Forum, and PMO Forum. I feel that the Sacramento Valley Chapter is spread too thin and provides insufficient support to some of its sponsored events. I really appreciate the dedication and efforts that this chapter leadership puts into the chapter - terrific resource for career development and growth!

I received my PMP in April 2010 and I am finding it very helpful. In November I changed jobs and received a 15% increase in salary because of my PMP. I look forward to being more involved in the chapter in this coming year... as I get the 60 Units I need to keep up my PMP. I volunteered to head workshops or to talk at a forum, but have not heard back in more than a month. This is the reason for my low score regarding volunteering possibilities. I wish I had more time to participate in chapter events. I wish the monthly meetings fell on a different day once in awhile since school events often are on the same night. I work for HP in a niche product line were I direct small projects in a rapid fire sequence that appears to be atypical in relation to what PMI expects. Most of the focus at PMI is on the large scale high profile projects, so most of the training and instructional material is not directly applicable to what I am doing day to day. If there was one thing I would recommend to all PMI Chapters and global PMI is to find a way to promote Project Management and the certification to employers. I don't think they see the value of the certification. Yes some employers allow employees to get their certification, but they really don't use it and don't reward employees for getting it. I think it is because they really don't see the value as apposed to getting an MBA. I'm not very involved in the chapter for a variety of reasons. I wish there were more of the larger seminars (i.e., larger PDU opportunities). It would be good to have local meetings in Redding occasionally. More communication on tools and methodologies that PMP has to offer, do not find what is being offered useful in day to day operations as PMP. n/a need to reach out to members more - I have never heard from you before now - and I have been a member for over 10 years No additional comments. None. Not clear how useful this survey is. For example, you ask about my satisfaction with the frequency of communication. In the past, the chapter over communicated. Without the ability to let you know that, my dissatisfaction might have encouraged them to communicate even more if they assumed it was based on a lack of communication. PDU classes used to be more plentiful. The Saturday 4 hour for 4 PDU classes at UC Davis Extension for $30-$50 per person were perfect for credential maintenance. Please bring more of those back. Please allow multiple answers where many choices are available.this is not a test. I notice that you repeated questions with the appearance of checking validity of answers. No need.a similar survey should be developed for the PMI Headquarters. I had a recent negative experience that could be noted in this survey. For the most part, my experience has been positive.

PMI is doing a great job! PM's willing to mentor those that are studying for PMP provide guidance for PM approach or resolve issues during a project would be helpful to me. I haven't been on the website in a long time but would be nice to breakdown roles to gain either volunteer/intern time in areas such as scheduling, change management, risk register, ect... Sacramento Valley chapter is excellent in member services. Has great enthusiasm, particularly in the leadership. Seeking and providing more consistent events that educate you on project skills would provide the variety that would meet more members needs. Super chapter. Response to queries sometimes slow. Survey does not provide for satisfaction NA -- I may not have experienced a particular Chapter offering. Thank you Thanks for all the work the Chapter does. It is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the opportunity to reply. Thanks! Looking forward to getting more involved with the Chapter since completing graduate school and completing the PMP. The current president, Laura Lorenzo, is outstanding. The best our local chapter has had and we've had good presidents in the past as well. The evidence that exists in prior boards (not current) spending on themeselves should require leagal action. When the chapter was sort on funds they where spending money on themselves. The Leadership series planed for 12 months w/ monthly workshops was great...then it petered out. I never saw any of the planned workshops on the calendar after about the sixth month and don't know what happened? I thought this inaugeral effort was to result in repeat program w/ a certificate? I would also like to see more PM focus outside of IT. The pmp exam boot camp class with Aileen from Colorado was great. The Sacramento Chapter has been an excellent ""Support Structure"" for me. I feel confident with the information being offered and provided by this chapter. too many question! try to limit it to Thanks. Try to increase the webinars and retain a recording so they can be viewed at a later time.

Two items:1) I am strongly opposed to PMI providing project management training. I appreciate the local chapter events, various seminars and the conferences. PMI, both locally and internationally, providing the coordination and setup is terrific. I have no issue with PMI, locally and internationally, funding these events with not only membership dues but possibly a portion of the class tuition fees. However, for PMI to provide the training directly and accept all the fees goes directly against, in my mind, the promotion of the profession and those of us that work in the profession. While my company does not currently provide project management training, colleagues and business partners of mine do. PMI directly competes and takes business away from those of us in the business of providing project management training. This is note congruent with the mission of the PMI to promote the profession and those of us in the profession of project management. PMI is in the business of project management and is now my competitor. What next? Consulting?2) A much smaller issue is for our local Sacramento Chapter. Do not like having two speakers at each dinner meeting. Yes it allows people to obtain two PDUs a month but almost complete eliminates the networking. I attend infrequently due to that change. Unfortunately for me, I am not involved in many of the chapter's events due to my lack of personal funding. I have to pay for everything myself, and my husband has been unemployed for 3+ years. I know that the chapter website and organization have made many improvements in the past year, I'm just not aware of the details. Wish the distant to the place held was closer and later than 5pm, difficult for me to travel and miss work for the meeting many times. Would like the chapter to sponsor more seminars using teleconference/virtual room technology where PDUs can be earned. I have a very busy schedule and have difficulty getting to chapter events but might be able to attend remotely. Would like to participate but I travel 100% for my job. Other chapters do not offer as much as I find with the Sacramento Chapter specifically help with classes to get PMI certification. Would love to see more info on obtaining PDU's. Especially ways that are low cost for people that dont have employers that fund classes. you should offer a ""do not know"" or ""Not applicable"" response for all of your satisfaction measurement questions.
