The April meeting of the Illiana Antique Power Assoc. will be on Monday, April 18th at 6:30 P.M. at the club house. Please bring a dish to pass for the meal. We d like to thank Jim Cunningham for repairing the water lines and for cleaning the club house before last month s meeting. Jim managed to do all the work himself.there were no volunteers to help. THANKS Jim CLUB T-SHIRTS: FEATURE ENGINE: ILLINOIS BUILT GAS ENGINES The Parsell s have been working with the printer for this year s T-shirts. They have seen the samples and have given their approval for printing. Hopefully they will have some at the meetings soon for pre-sales. (Kaaren has a real green thumb ) In last month s newsletter I printed an ad for Fairweather Foundry and sent him a copy of our newsletter. 3 ILLIANA NEWS PAGE 3 TRI-COUNTY QUILTERS NEWS: SUBMITTED BY: MARSHA WATKINS ANSWERS: Tri-County Quilters s meeting was March 28, 2016 at the Pine Village Community Building with 14 ladies present. Several members brought in more bags for History Day festivities in October. Some still need ribbons and need to be stamped with our 200th birthday logo. We received info on surrounding area quilt shows. Many voiced interest in attending one or more of the shows.can never see too many quilts or see too many products We viewed many beautiful items in our sew and tell segment, then Florence gave instructions on making a 10 minute quilt block Very clever Florence We need more partial seam blocks for our group quilt to be offered for sale at Rainsville. As usual, we sat and ate our brown bag lunch and shared news of family and mutual friends. Everyone had a project of their own to work on and a few words of wisdom to share April 25, 2016 will be our next meeting. Make sure all members attend 1.) John Deere and Case 2.) The A and the B. Rolland McKinney is scheduled for bypass surgery on April 13th in Indianapolis. Please keep Rolland in your prayers.have a speedy recovery Rolland

NEWS: SUBMITTED BY: CHARLIE LUPINEK The Pine Creek & Western railroaders will be gathering to evaluate and establish a list of things that will need to be done to prepare the railroad for safe operations this year. A time to meet will be established shortly. The winter was relatively mild and track and road bed damage is minor. With the tree falling in the lower loop and contacting the track there will have to be some track sections repaired and/or replaced. The Bodines have already sprayed the track for weed control. Note to all who assist with the grass mowing at the club grounds. Please while mowing, direct the grass exiting the mower to be directed away from the railroad tracks and unloading facilities. Thanks HELP, HELP and MORE HELP Tom Swanson is back from Florida and has begun to work on the Quonset hut. He is asking for some additional help. Contact to find out when the next work day is scheduled.

5 Rocky Forge Blacksmith News: ILLIANA NEWS Spring sure is taking its time getting here, the windy days in the 40 s make for some cold outside work. I am hoping next Saturday, April 9th, will be a nice sunny, windless day in the 50 s or higher. We are planning an open forge day so you can grab a piece of metal and make whatever has been on your mind. I hope some of you can make items for the tool box to be raffled, along with Jim Bolin s bench, during the summer and fall events. We need hinges and a latch made for the box. Hopefully, we can make some money to apply toward our shop at Rainsville. Bring your bucket of tools, coal and whatever else you need for a day of forging. The Illiana club would like to put the blacksmiths on the buttons for the July 2016 Bicentennial Show. Please look at your blacksmithing pictures and see if you have any that would make a good showing on the buttons. Hundreds of these buttons are given out at the show. The picture should be one that showcases blacksmithing, not necessarily of any individual or group, it needs good clarity and not too busy. That is why it is hard to find just the right photo.* SUBMITTED BY: TED STOUT PAGE 5 of scalloped potatoes. The rest of you need to bring some dishes to pass. If you don t bring food, we won t let you in the door Any ideas for something healthy would be good. We have had some really good turnouts at our meetings and I trust that will continue. New people continue to call saying they will come and we have some new additions to the membership that will make our group even stronger. The new television programs on blacksmithing may be contributing to the renewed interest. Welcome to all of you and if you have a guest interested in what we do bring them along. As usual doughnuts and coffee should be ready by 8:30 a.m. Not much on the meeting agenda so we should be able to start pounding metal pretty early. Hope to see Melvin Lytton in the crowd.
