1 January February 2016 JANUARY PROGRAM JANUARY 6 Diane Sheridan, Executive Director of the Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority, will share information about Grand Haven's Main Street. She will explain the value of a downtown to a community, what her organization does, and describe upcoming events in the area. FEBRUARY PROGRAM FEBRUARY 3 Ken Start, author of "A Prescription For Addiction" will share his experiences with addiction that began after an automobile accident. In addition to his experiences, which include manipulating doctors, he'll cover how to identify the signs of addiction and how to help. Ken is in recovery and has accomplished a lot in his life...an inspiration to others. He is ambitious about educating and informing others about just how easy it is to become an addict and when you have the will...how you can get to recovery. His book is available locally at The Bookman, downtown Grand Haven as well as online at Amazon.com. Counterpart s Distinguished Woman of the Year Award is back for 2016! Thanks to the energy and enthusiasm of Wendy Schweifler, we are re-instituting this program that has been such a fun event for Counterpart for many years. She needs volunteers and can be reached at wendy@bodenomics.com. In addition, we will be holding 50/50 raffles during January and February to help defray expenses of this event. Please consider bringing women s hygiene and healthcare products (think tampons and toilet paper) to our January and February meetings. There is an ongoing need for these products and we will be handing any donations over to the local Women s Life group, who will add them to what they collect during their upcoming drive. All donations will be given to our local shelters. So, if you happen to be buying toilet paper, for instance, and there s a two for one sale, please consider getting the second item and donating it. Thanks in advance for your help! More..
