2 [ AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM After-School Program has expanded! Now at 225 S. School Street in Brownsburg and at 3725 Kentucky Avenue in Indianapolis. Meaningful Day Services is excited to announce that we are expanding our After-School Program to Marion County, located in Indianapolis, Indiana! At our After-School Program, care is provided for each child on a 1:1 client-to-staff member ratio. The flexible daily schedule followed includes free time, social circle, academics, expressive arts, hygiene skills, safety programming, and more. Clients regularly attend outings to promote socialization in the community. Furthermore, individualized goals are established and fostered for each client, while being tracked daily. Transportation is needed to attend our After-School Program. However, students who attend Decatur schools can utilize their schools bus system for transportation. Our program is offered Monday through Friday from 3:00p.m. 6:00 p.m. Yet, start times are flexible, based on the client s school schedule. Funding for this program is available through the Family Support (FS ) and Community Integration Habilitation (CIH) waivers in Indiana (Service codes: PAC, RESPITE, FHI). The After-School program is held at both the 225 South School Street location in Brownsburg and at the 3725 Kentucky Avenue building in Indianapolis. 4 [ CL IE N T C O R N E R! e o l h Meet C Last month, December 2018, the Music Therapy Department held a concert in Fort Wayne. We are so happy to celebrate Chloe, who chose to sing and play Good, Good Father by Chris Tomlin, and she was so proud. Just a few years ago, she was too shy to consider performing, then she performed in a group with our bell choir, and now she is comfortable enough to sing and play for people. Way to go, Chloe! 5 EMPL O YEE CORNER Welcome, New Therapist! Lafayette, Indiana Allyson Dodd, MT-BC Allyson earned her degree in Music Therapy from Western Illinois University, in Macomb, Illinois. She graduated May of Allyson has worked with clients of various ages while she was in school. Allyson has experience working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as other diagnoses. Music Therapy allows Allyson to use the gifts that she has to help and serve others. In her free time, Allyson enjoys painting, spending time with family, and traveling. We are excited to have Allyson a part of the Meaningful Day Services team, as she serves the Lafayette, Indiana area. A sunny day at the Holiday Park Nature Center! Kendra Smith MDS would like to recognize our Recreational Therapist, Kendra Smith. Kendra joined MDS in February 2018, and we knew from the beginning that she was going to be a great asset to the Recreational Therapy Department. Kendra is a dynamic therapist who always gives 100% in the work she does. She has an energy that is contagious, and when you meet her, you might feel like you ve known her for years. She always has a smile on her face and a pep in her step. It s easy to see that she brings so much joy and meaning to the clients she serves. Kendra has a wonderful rapport with her clients, teams, coworkers, and is well-respected by those she works with. Kendra has been vital to the Recreational Therapy Department in showing initiative and sharing her knowledge and expertise in the area of assessment. In the coming months, she will be working with the Department to update and train therapists on new, more effective assessment tools. We appreciate all you do, Kendra.
