1 Rota Views -- The Weekly Bulletin of the Rotary Club Cape of Good Hope We meet every Tuesday evening near the tip of the Cape The St James Hotel, Main Road, St James, Cape Town Time: 18:30 for 19:00 - Visitors are always most welcome The theme of Rotary International President John F. Germ Rotary Serving Humanity 23 AUGUST 2016 Issue # 7 August is Rotary Membership & Extension month Last week we had a most interesting talk by Douglas Anderson, son of Rtn Gillian who shared with us the effects of Impact craters in South Africa. Using a slide show he took us through the various sites in the world some as yet not even uncovered as they lie deep under the snow where craters have been formed. Vredefort dome is our oldest and most famous in South Africa. A scary thought is that as there has not been any very large objects falling from the sky for a long time perhaps the next one is imminent!! With such a thrilling talk and plenty of questions, the meeting went on longer than usual testimony to the President: Peter Gray grayshome@absamail.co.za Secretary: Susan O Hagan Ward susan@jap.co.za Treasurer: Janet Holwill jholwill@iafrica.com Web Site: capeofgoodhope.co.za Face Book page: Cape of Good Hope Rotary Club excellence of our speaker. Thanks Douglas for a wonderful talk that was enjoyed by all. CLUB MATTERS CONGRATULATIONS!!! VOTING FOR OFFICE BEARERS - Our new Leadership Team of is..president Elect is MARGE UPFOLD, Secretary SUSAN O HAGAN WARD and taking over from long serving Janet Holwill, newly inducted IRENE BUTTERWORTH
