1 February 2017 The State of Schaumburg Towship The umber of residets usig Schaumburg Towship services has ever bee greater. Ulike the federal govermet ad the state of Illiois, the towship has bee able to provide the services eeded with a balaced budget. The towship also has aother balaced budget for fiscal year The towship s Moody s bod ratig (AA2) is very high ad our last audit had o recommedatios from the auditor (the best audit you ca get!) With last year beig a reassessmet year, 2,549 property tax appeals were hadled by our Assessor s office. Residets were able to appeal their taxes ad have their questios aswered at the towship fast ad efficietly. The towship s portio of the property tax bill is uder oe percet. Our passport program has ot oly allowed residets to obtai passports i a fast ad friedly maer, but it has also geerated additioal icome to offset the costs of other services the towship provides. The amplified phoe program has free phoes available to help those who are hearig-impaired. The Seior ad Disabled Departmets assist with beefit couselig, completig forms, icome tax preparatio, exercise classes ad social activities. Residets have saved thousads of dollars o prescriptio medicatios through the towship s Coast2Coast Rx prescriptio drug program. May seiors ad disabled residets rely o the towship s trasportatio service to take them to dialysis, doctor appoitmets, grocery stores ad other ecessary destiatios. The food patry cotiues to provide more food to a ever growig umber of people. Through the ed of November there were 6,689 patry visits. The patry relies o the geerous doatios of idividuals, families, churches ad busiesses withi our commuity. The Geeral Assistace Departmet distributed over 120 turkey meals for Thaksgivig ad over 130 meals for Christmas. The Adopt-a-Family program assisted over 500 households. I May, the departmet received a ew dispatch program partially fuded through a grat from Age Optios ad Highway Commissioer Scott Kegarise. The departmet spet may hours workig o the program that assists i schedulig residets rides more efficietly. Trasportatio purchased two ew buses ad also istalled cameras o the buses for safety.
