1 Bay Point Rod & Gun Club P Newsletter January 2018 Message from the President: I hope all of our members had a Merry Christmas and are enjoying the New Year, cooler weather is here, rain is sparse compared to last year, enjoy the clear days while you can. R&P range: The R & P Range plans have been completed by AECOM, those plans are being reviewed for bidding by numerous construction companies, they are requesting more range detail and design information from USI design committee and AECOM, we are researching and responding to their requests. Our local architect/engineer that s designing the R & P range shack is in the final engineering stage. Additional planning is in process for range lighting and electrical. Pending the results of construction bids and County plan review we hope to have a projected start and completion date soon. The Bay Point, Brentwood, Concord, and Diablo clubs are continuing to cooperate to move the project forward. The 2018 HANGOVER OPEN was enjoyed by all who attended, 56 shooters showed up to a great breakfast of eggs, ham and biscuits and gravy. Thank you to Chef Laura and her great crew. We had great weather to shoot 100 targets. Our HOA winner shooting 100 straight Richard Fukatsu, High woman Quincy Winship 96, High Junior Macgregor Douglas 98, Second place Tom Heath 99, Third place tied Jack Bernardi and Bob Lujan 98. Thanks to all shooters for attending and big thanks to all volunteers keeping this shoot a success. Upcoming events: the annual Bay Point Crab Feed on March 3rd. Any donations for the crab feed raffle auction would be appreciated (more info below from Laura). 29 Outdoor Gear has generously donated guns again for the raffle. Volunteers are always needed and their help is always appreciated at club events. March 17th is Bay Point club Trophy awards night / St. Patrick s Corned Beef dinner. March 6th club meeting is canceled-march meeting will be on the 17th. Bay Point Spring Skeet league 2018 will start in late April. Thursday night April 19th, Monday night April 23rd. both leagues will skip shooting Memorial Day weekend and end early June. I will contact 2017 team captains to see who is returning. Info flyer will be posted in February. Anyone wanting to shoot in either skeet league contact me at: president@baypointrodandgun.com Multi-Purpose Range: The MPR is getting more and more use. The range is open Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays during regular business hours, check the USI website for updates or call clubhouse. Check-in at the clubhouse office to pay your fees and to have your safety-card checked, then proceed to the MPR, where the RSO will assign a shooting bench. Please come out and shoot 22 s. 22 LR rim-fire ONLY Our February 6th meeting will be a Potluck dinner theme. Please attend and bring a favorite main dish, side dish or dessert to share with other members.

2 2 Best Regards, Peter Llama President Bay Point R&G Club Message from the Vice-President: It is Crab Feed Time! Saturday March 3 rd, it s just around the corner. We have tickets for sale at a fantastic price of $55 per person. Please call Pete at or me at we have the tickets! A few members and BP Board members are working diligently to gather donations. If you have an item or skill that you would like to donate for the raffle please give me a call and we ll arrange to get it, if you have ideas or sources for donations please contact me asap. This is our annual fund raiser with proceeds going to groups that support the sport of shooting and safe handling of firearms, along with our general Purpose stated in Section 1.03 of our Bylaws, which is too long to write out here. Everyone that has attended in the past has always had a great time, the food is always spectacular, and we get the best crab in the area for the best value. The crowd always has lot s of fun. Let s all be supportive of our Club and get together for this annual event. Our next meeting on Feb. 6 th is going to be Pot Luck, plan to attend and bring your favorite main or side dish to share, please not all desserts! I so appreciate the help and support of those that do Thanks Laura Shaw VP Bay Point Minutes from January 6 th, 2018 General Meeting The Saturday, January 06 meeting was attended by a total of 33 members and club officers. President Llama called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Chris Payne. Director Richard Holmes read the Board of Director s roll call as Secretary Millan was absent. Peter Llama, Laura Shaw, Kenny Pastega, Dorothy Bayer and Richard Holmes were in attendance. The November 2017 meeting minutes were approved as issued. Treasurer s Report: President Llama President Llama reported that the club is financially sound. Club Membership Report: President Llama

3 3 Correspondence As some of you may recall, Bay Point Rod and Gun Club supports The Blue Star Moms, an organization that sends packages of comfort goods to deployed US Troops. Last November, we made a substantial monetary contribution towards their $15,000 annual postage budget. They have shared two messages they received from our deployed Troops: Blue Star Moms Thank you for your love and support. We really do appreciate your labors of love. Most of us are home now safe and sound and the remainder will be there shortly. I am extremely happy to report that we are going home with no losses, everyone made it out. Happy New Year everyone! Thank you, CW2 KINDRA DALLAS 29TH CAB PBO... Dear Blue Star Moms, Thank you all very much for the Christmas package that was delivered to us on the 24th of December. Everyone here was happy and very appreciative of everything you sent. We are an Army unit currently deployed to Iraq during Operation Inherent Resolve. Mail takes a while to get to us so it was a wonderful site to see. Thank you all again for supporting us and making the holidays better!!! Thank you and Happy Holidays!!! A-Trp 2-17th US Army... Hello, My name is SGT McCallum. I am writing on behalf of the 516th Movement Control Team. Myself, along with many other member of our team, have received multiple packages from your organization. I am writing to say thank you! We are about 3-4 months into our deployment. And will be back home Summer Thank you for sharing the holiday joy. Merry Christmas from IRAQ! 4 4... Committee Reports Skeet Report The January 1st 2018 Hangover Open was attended by 56 shooters. HOA was Richard Fukatsu with the only 100 straight for the day, Quincy Winship was high Lady with 96. Hunting Report Trap Report Fishing Report: Neil Bennesen Old Business: None. New Business: President Llama asked Mike McIntosh to give a status update on the Rifle/Pistol/MPR upgrades. A discussion ensued regarding the design plan and estimated costs of the Range Shack. President Llama announced that any member in good standing may request a copy of the clubs Bylaws. A request was made by two members for copies. The Secretary will comply with their request. President Llama announced that the Annual Bay Point All You Can Eat Crab Feed and Raffle will be held on March 03, The price of raffle tickets is $55 per person. Both members and guests are encouraged to attend. Tickets may be purchased from Vice President Laura Shaw or other Board members who are selling tickets.

5 5 President Llama encouraged the membership to utilize the MPR range for.22 rimfire rifle and pistol only. Good of the Club: Ed White reported that to date only 12 of the 30 birds awarded have been harvested. Ed reminded the membership that all birds awarded in the Bay Point bird card raffle must harvest their birds by January 31, If anyone is unable to harvest their birds please contact Ed at: Trophy Chairman Gary Leroy reminded the membership to complete their 2017 trophy award forms no later than February 10, 2018 if they wish to participate in the Club s Trophy Awards. The next club meeting is scheduled for February 06, The dinner will be a Generic Potluck. The Club will supply the beverages. Please attend and bring a favorite main dish, side or dessert. President Llama adjourned the General Meeting at 8:25 PM. Board of Directors Meeting The meeting was called to order at 8:40 pm by President Llama. President Peter Llama, Vice President Laura Shaw, and Directors Kenny Pastega, Richard Holmes and Dorothy Bayer were present. President Llama received and accepted the resignations from Membership Chairman Dave Kasimatis and Treasurer Tiffany Lantz as both have serious medical issues, which prevent them from performing their respective club duties. The B.O.D. interviewed Lana Stefonic for the vacant Membership Chairman Position and Teresa Buckner for the vacant Club Treasurer Position. Director Holmes made a motion to accept both candidates for their respective positions. The motion was seconded by Dorothy Bayer. The motion was voted upon and accepted unanimously by the Board of Directors. The Board requested that Ms. Buckner be added to the Club s checking account. President Llama is taking the necessary steps to complete this process. President Llama adjourned the B.O.D. Meeting at 9:20 PM.
