1 Dear Friend, We are reaching out to enlist your support for our annual Walk/Run for Abilis event on Sunday, October 15 at Tod s Point in Greenwich. Abilis is a Greenwich-based, non-profit organization that provides vital services for over 700 individuals with special needs and their families from birth through their lifespan. The Walk/Run for Abilis is our largest annual awareness building and fundraising event. It is designed for individuals of all ages and abilities and includes a 5K run, a one-mile, accessible walk, family-friendly activities, food, and our Abilis Gifts Shop. We estimate that we ll have over 200 runners and about walkers from Fairfield and Westchester Counties. Participants include avid runners, clients and their families and friends, Abilis staff, local businesses, and community members who value inclusion and diversity. In order to make our Walk/Run for Abilis a successful, community-wide event, we need your help. Please consider joining us as an event or premiere, year-round sponsor. 2 ABILIS OVERVIEW Who We Are Abilis provides services and supports for over 700 individuals with special needs and their families from birth through the life span. Abilis has been a leader in providing state-of-the art services for the special needs community in Lower Fairfield County for 65 years and has a long-standing reputation for high quality care. What We Do Abilis provides early intervention and customized therapies to help individuals achieve important developmental milestones through our Therapeutic Services programs. As individuals approach and enter adulthood, we provide a wide range of Life Services programs, including recreational activities, transition and life skills support, job training, competitive and supported employment, and a choice of residential options. Where We Operate Abilis Life Services programs are based at our Greenwich headquarters, while our Therapeutic Services programs are run out of our Therapy Center in Stamford. Our Life Skills Programs, designed for young adults with special needs who ve graduated from high school, are located in Greenwich and Westport with two new locations - Stamford and Wilton opening in August and September. Abilis manages 32 residential facilities in Greenwich and Stamford and works with numerous schools, civic organizations, and other community partners to deliver programs to individuals and families when and where they need them most. Mission Abilis provides people with developmental disabilities and their families in lower Fairfield County with supports and advocacy for building able lives and strong communities. Vision Abilis will set the standard of excellence for person-centered services through innovation, teamwork and respect for the people we serve. Together, we will shape communities in which people of all abilities participate and contribute as equal citizens Values Abilis believes that all people deserve to live, learn, work and enjoy life based upon their personal preferences.
