Let us all hope that peace will come to our world and that our troops will no longer be in harms way. It was decided by the membership to enlarge or Canteen area in the game area and this construction will commence soon. This remodeling will provide us a much larger area for our events and a more comfortable environment. Although the Dining. Meeting room will shrink some, we will also be remodeling there in order to create a nicer area for our meetings and dinners and will remain smoke-free. First-Vice Joe Oxendine If you have not renewed your dues for your privileges and benefits have been suspended. If you have paid and not received your card, please call me at ASAP so this can be corrected. Please remember that all membership issues are handled by the First Vice-Commander. If you have any problems in this area the need to be brought to my attention. Help our membership by talking to your eligible friends about joining Amvets. Ladies Auxiliary Corner - Wendy Luzader, President Thursday, January 12 th is our next meeting. We have had a great group attending and participating! We will not have a Ladies 1 st Sunday breakfast on 1/1/17 due to the holiday and Post events. Ready for a change? Our 1 st Saturday monthly meal will be held on January 7 th meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and roll for $7 all homemade! Please remember that all meals are served from 5 7 PM or UNTIL SOLD OUT! We had a great time preparing for our holidays at 422. Our Thanksgiving meal was absolutely the best! THANK YOU, Ladies once again for another amazing feast! Christmas food baskets and gifts for our little Angels were delivered this week. While this is an Auxiliary project, we 1 couldn t do it out the assistance and donation from our 422 AMVETS, Sons and Riders we appreciate you very much! This year, we saw an even greater need for local families needing assistance we received many compliments and thank you s from those we helped. DISTRICT NEWS: Cookbooks are available for purchase in the canteen. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude s Ranch for Children, please purchase one and support this very worthwhile cause. If your recipe was accidently omitted, we will be providing inserts for those who purchase a cookbook and correcting this problem. The recipes were sent! If you d like to include recipes in the insert, them to wendyluzader@yahoo.com before January 10 th. Our Auxiliary District meeting is January 21 in Williston. See the poster included in this newsletter for additional info. We are participating in the annual Fisher House Fundraiser at 444, Williston on January 28 th. There will be a crock pot cook off, 2 bands, silent auction, raffles, 50/50 and other activities. Please see the poster on the Auxiliary bulletin board for more info. Thought for the New Year: A new year means nothing if you re still in love your comfort zone. Make a resolution (and keep it) to participate, volunteer and let s do even more this coming year! Thanks to all the riders that participated in the ride to deliver the gift bags to the Veterans in the Tri-County Nursing Homes. We brought a lot of SMILES to the Veterans. Our next meeting will be Monday, February 6 th. Thank you for the great turnout for our Fish Fry! We will be discussing our next one at our February meeting. Your 422 Sons have been busy assisting our Veterans in addition to donating funds for the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and the Angel Tree. The definition of giving is allowing someone to have something ~ it s a great feeling to know we are making a difference in the lives of others. We have purchased a lap top to assist the Post in issuing our monthly newsletters. Several of our Sons have volunteered to take on this project. Wishing each of you a great start to a brand new year! I was glad to see all the members that came out for the Christmas Party. I hope everybody had a good time and a full belly. I want to thank everyone that helped cook and serve the food. They worked hard and need to be appreciated. We are not having a New Years Eve party but instead we will have a NEW YEARS DAY PARTY from 1 pm until???. The bowling room wall is going to be moved back so that there will be more room in the bowling area. The Post bowling is every Tuesday night at 6 pm Wings from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The bowling league is every Thursday night at 7 pm Wings or possibly Hamburgers & Hot Dogs. Please, remember our troops that are away from their families during the holidays.
