1 Be Healthy Lead: Sally Hogg BH1 Children and young people and their families and carers are supported and encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles BH2 Young people are well-informed about sexual health and supported in making informed choices Parent drop in advice service launched in Feb 2007 in the four towns, Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Southwold. Staffed by PCT employees and other agencies (Education and Social Services etc.) running from the Four Towns Bus. Funding for rental of bus and resources including advertising the project was provided by the Extended Schools Service and Reydon Children s Centre. MEND childhood obesity programme Infant massage programme, HV and NN teaching infant massage 5 week roll out, aiming to offer to all infants Provision of Post Natal Group Piloted successful initiative using the hand washing machine at parent meetings and in PHSE in primary schools. HV in Beccles engaging with the Library Service in Beccles to provide Health input to Family Sessions in the library (multi-agency) HV in Beccles running a weekly Sleep Clinic. HV in Halesworth supported the set-up of an exercise/dance class for young mothers. Breastfeeding support workers trained to give support to mothers Looked after Children(LAC) are assessed as priority by school Nurses and Health Visitors. Post Natal groups aim to address Health issues and promote Healthy lifestyles. Healthy schools initiative, breakfast clubs First Steps learning for parents and carers around healthy lifestyles Clinic based services School based services Young fathers through sure start Significant increase in PHSE delivery into Benjamin Britten High, Ashley and Roman Hill Middle schools. THIS project, (teenage health information service) run in both Bungay Sarah Barnes Schools Christine Orr Isabel Haysom 1/6
2 and SJL high schools Teenage Health Information Service (Mainly Sexual Health) running weekly at lunch time in both High Schools in the Waveney cluster, staffed by Team Leader, Health Visitors and Family Planning staff working together in Rota system. BH3 The emotional well-being of all children and young people is developed, and their mental health needs appropriately addressed Teenage Health Information Service(THIS) in 2 High Schools joint project between Health and Youth service. HV/SN picking up on tier 3 Increase in Middle School Drop-In s to one every 2 weeks in each of the 4 schools. Offering joint training with Educational Psychologists to schools around emotional issues e.g. self harm, this is now one of the 12 + cluster sub group developments Family support, through Sure Start, a very preventative type service, supporting in the areas of debt, mental health, housing, drugs and alcohol. Blues crew, young adults are invited, encouraged to meet others with similar difficulties, there are good links to meridian House and adult mental health services Multi-agency planning meetings monthly attended by CAMHS to facilitate fast referral and treatment of children/adolescents with Mental Health Problems. These will incorporate the Common Assessment Framework(CAF). Baby Massage classes are provided to help promote better attachment between mother and baby and to help prevent post-natal depression. Some staff have received specialist training in this field. Emotional literacy training in schools, SEAL material Peer mentoring in High Schools Circus Project ADHD Primary Mental Health Workers Bereavement Steering Group Penny Rackett Schools Sarah Catchpole Sarah Catchpole Sarah Catchpole BH4 Children and young people can access information, advice and support for issues concerning substance misuse Four towns community bus Smoking cessation HV in Southwold is a Level 2 Smoking Cessation Advisor and receives referrals from GP s and self referrals. 2/6

Stay Safe Lead: John Gregg SS1 Safe environments are provided for children, young people and their families SS2 Children and young people in care are safe, have stability and achieve their full potential Accident prevention advice and home safe risk assessments by HV/SN Follow up after A&E visits liaison with Sue Herbert JPH Information and support projects one day per week in high schools in partnership with youth service. Youth service with partners (police, norcas ect) offer safer dancing events in Lowestoft and buses bring YP in from rural areas. A HV in Bungay has trained and worked with other agencies to deliver a 12 week course for women experiencing Domestic Violence. (The Freedom Programme). The NN in Halesworth/Southwold has assisted with this. Post natal groups run by Health Visitors aim to promote safety in the home, when to seek medical help and car/road safety. CRB checking of staff working with children and young people Risk assessments and infection Control Assessments of venues used to deliver services HV/SN support to foster families and provision of health assessments SN drop ins for looked after children Established Named School Nurse for Old Warren House Pupil Referral Unit, Harbour Pupil Referral Unit and The Attic Project. PCT Team Leader SS3 Children and young people are protected from crime, anti-social behaviour or bullying SS4 Children and young people are safeguarded from neglect and harm Links through named nurse with VCC, probation, YOT A nurse from JPH goes into YOT weekly offering advice/support Continued provision of Health Worker in Youth Offending Team Work with families with complex needs such as domestic violence Freedom Programme has been running to help address this. Through early intervention assessment of attachment Introduction of the neglect assessment tool Training/workshops/supervision on safeguarding by named nurse Setting up of Professional networks to support safeguarding work.
