5 March Meeting Thursday 1 March Advance Notice The Group Fair will be at the Pearson Centre next to Roundhill School and the Library from 10am to 12. Open to all so please bring along friends and neighbours who may be interested in joining U3A.

7 Please be aware that there is no First Aider on duty at this Meeting. In line with National U3A guidelines in the event of a problem we will immediately contact the emergency services.

9 Membership Renewal Renewals are due on 1st May, so to spread the work load of renewing over 750 members, we will start to take membership renewals at the February meeting. Due to our increasing membership we are able to reduce the membership fee to 12 If you have any alteration to your Gift Aid status, please contact Margot Gale at or inform her by post or at the open meeting.

10 Membership Renewal If you can t get to an Open Meeting, you can pay by post. Please enclose a SAE for your receipt and membership card to be posted to you.

12 Please let your Group Leader Know: 1. If you no longer wish to attend a Group. This will allow new members to join a Group with a waiting list. 2. If you have a reason why you can t get to Group meetings but still wish to be a member. Four nonnotified absences in a row will result in your name being removed from that group and the place open to someone else.

16 Coffee at Group Meetings If you use the church s coffee and tea facilities at a Group Meeting, please remember you need to pay a contribution of 30p per cup per person towards the church s expenses. The coffee and tea are not free.

23 Visit to Southern Ireland. Cancelled due to lack of support.

24 Hodsock Priory Wednesday 9 May 2018 Visit Hodsock Priory, near Blyth for a guided tour of the House followed by light luncheon and the opportunity to see the bluebells in flower. Cost p per person. This includes coach fare, refreshments on arrival, tour of House and light luncheon. Further details and booking forms available at 7 December 2017 Open Meeting.

30 Bowls Group Bowl sessions are arranged for all Fridays at 10.30am lasting 2 hours - all members welcome. Numbers are gradually increasing and we had 8 persons attending which meant we had 2 lanes open. However, the other two weekly roll-up sessions are Mondays 12.30pm 2.30pm, and Thursdays 2.30pm 4.30pm. U3A bowlers were invited to just turn up to these sessions, and play with their U3A friends.

45 Astronomy Group Richard Dinsdale has spent a great deal of time and energy trying to get the Astronomy group going. He would like the group to move forward and a further meeting has been arranged for Tuesday 30th January 2018 at 10am in the Wesley room at Beeston Methodist Church, Chilwell.

47 Games Group A suggestion has been put forward to start up a Games Group for members wanting to play board or card games of all sorts such as Upwords, Sequence, Dominoes and many more. If you are interested in a sociable morning/afternoon out and enjoy playing games why not think about starting up this group. Beeston U3A already have groups such as Canasta, Rummikub and Scrabble. They have asked us to help with 3 projects: engaging the older shopper in the grocery shopping experience, fashion for ladies over 55 and clothing for people living with raynauds, diabetes, or arthritis.
