8 Membership Renewal Our new membership year begins on 1st May 2017 and ends on 30 th April 2018 so payment is now overdue. You can renew your membership at this meeting. As promised last year, our membership fee for U3A year will be 15 and this can be paid either by cash or cheque which should be made out to Beeston U3A. If you have any alteration to your Gift Aid status could you contact Margot Gale at or inform her by post or at the open meeting.

If you have a reason why you can t get to Group meetings but still wish to be a member. Four nonnotified absences in a row will result in your name being removed from that group and the place open to someone else.

15 Coffee at Group Meetings If you use the church s coffee and tea facilities at a Group Meeting, please remember you need to pay a contribution of 30p per cup per person towards the church s expenses. The coffee and tea are not free.

26 Thursford Spectacular 15/16 November 2017 A limited number of tickets have been allocated to us for this Christmas 2017 visit. In order to secure these tickets we must have definite numbers. This involves an overnight stay at Caley Hall Hotel, Old Hunstanton. Dinner, bed and breakfast 159 per person, single room supplement. Four places are still available.

28 Hodsock Priory Wednesday 9 May 2018 Visit Hodsock Priory, near Blyth for a guided tour of the House followed by light luncheon and the opportunity to see the bluebells in flower. Cost p per person. This includes coach fare, refreshments on arrival, tour of House and light luncheon. Places available.

31 Interested in joining the Bowls Group? Meeting at Nottingham Indoor Bowls Centre, Beechdale Road, Bilborough. We are now taking names for the next tuition session. Contact Peter Noon for more information: Tel:

32 Bowls Group Bowl sessions are arranged for all Fridays at 10.30am lasting 2 hours - all members welcome. Numbers are gradually increasing and we had 8 persons attending which meant we had 2 lanes open. However, the other two weekly roll-up sessions are Mondays 12.30pm 2.30pm, and Thursdays 2.30pm 4.30pm. U3A bowlers were invited to just turn up to these sessions, and play with their U3A friends.

33 Buddies There will be no Buddies meeting in August. Back as usual in September.

34 French conversation The last French Conversation Group meeting is on Monday 10th July. It will recommence on Monday 11th September.

41 To All Poetry Lovers The Poetry Appreciation Group could do with a few extra members. This group is very informal and we are all friendly people who love to read poetry. 42 Practical Gardening Group The Practical Gardening Group has changed the day it meets each month and the room where we meet in order to welcome and accommodate new members. We now meet on the FIRST TUESDAY of each month in the GUILD room of the CRMC. You will be most welcome to join us there.

51 New Group - Astronomy Astronomy is one of the oldest physical sciences. The night sky and its array of stars, wandering planets, changing moon phases, occasional comets and meteor showers, and in far northern and southern latitudes, shimmering auroras, have fascinated mankind and stimulated the imagination of generations. 53 2nd Medium Walks Group Two initial meetings of the 2nd Medium Walk Group have taken place. The decision by the group was made to be a self-motivated group and that members should lead/organise at least one walk during the year. Up to date we have 4 members who have offered to lead a walk. We are looking for at least 2 more before the group can move forward. 54 Beginner Recorder Group Due to members commitments during the Summer months, the initial meeting for the group is being delayed till September when I will contact those that are interested to arrange a meeting. They have asked us to help with 3 projects: engaging the older shopper in the grocery shopping experience, fashion for ladies over 55 and clothing for people living with raynauds, diabetes, or arthritis.
