8 Membership Renewal Our new membership year begins on 1st May 2017 and ends on 30 th April 2018 so payment is now overdue. You can renew your membership at this meeting. As promised last year, our membership fee for U3A year will be 15 and this can be paid either by cash or cheque which should be made out to Beeston U3A. If you have any alteration to your Gift Aid status could you contact Margot Gale at or inform her by post or at the open meeting.

11 Please let your Group Leader Know: 1. If you no longer wish to attend a Group. This will allow new members to join a Group with a waiting list. 2. If you have a reason why you can t get to Group meetings but still wish to be a member. Four nonnotified absences in a row will result in your name being removed from that group and the place open to someone else.

15 Coffee at Group Meetings If you use the church s coffee and tea facilities at a Group Meeting, please remember you need to pay a contribution of 30p per cup per person towards the church s expenses. The coffee and tea are not free.

22 BEESTON U3A TRIPS OUT ORGANISED BY LUCY BEARDSLEY

23 Thursford Spectacular 15/16 November 2017 A limited number of tickets have been allocated to us for this Christmas 2017 visit. In order to secure these tickets we must have definite numbers. This involves an overnight stay at Caley Hall Hotel, Old Hunstanton. Dinner, bed and breakfast 159 per person, single room supplement. Six places are still available.

25 New Visit to Southern Ireland 22 April 2018 to 27 April days, 5 nights. Forms and further details at Open Meetings.

26 Hodsock Priory Wednesday 9 May 2018 Visit Hodsock Priory, near Blyth for a guided tour of the House followed by light luncheon and the opportunity to see the bluebells in flower. Cost p per person. This includes coach fare, refreshments on arrival, tour of House and light luncheon. Places available.

28 Architecture Group Due to the group going on site visits, in September and through to October, there will be no meetings at the Church on the first Tuesday of the month. Back to normal in November.

29 5th Book Group The 5th Book Group which is now called 'THE FIFTH CHAPTER' will be meeting monthly at the White Lion 24 Middle Street Beeston Nottingham NG9 1FX every 2nd Wednesday starting at 10am from 13th September. If you are interested in joining this group please Contact Ginny Lawes

31 Bowls Group Bowl sessions are arranged for all Fridays at 10.30am lasting 2 hours - all members welcome. Numbers are gradually increasing and we had 8 persons attending which meant we had 2 lanes open. However, the other two weekly roll-up sessions are Mondays 12.30pm 2.30pm, and Thursdays 2.30pm 4.30pm. U3A bowlers were invited to just turn up to these sessions, and play with their U3A friends.

33 French conversation French Conversation recommences on September 11th at 9-30am

34 New Greek Group Learn Greek from the beginning. We meet 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at the Methodist Church at 10am. Come and join us

35 German conversation The German conversation group will not meet in August. The next meeting will be at 10.00am on Tuesday 5th September at The White Lion. We will be discussing our holidays. This is a small group with varying levels of ability in spoken German. New members are welcome.

40 To All Poetry Lovers The Poetry Appreciation Group could do with a few extra members. This group is very informal and we are all friendly people who love to read poetry. 41 Practical Gardening Group The Practical Gardening group won't be having their own meeting in October. However they will be linking up with the Garden Visits group on Wednesday October 11th when there will be a speaker from Rhubarb Farm coming to talk to both groups.

They have asked us to help with 3 projects: engaging the older shopper in the grocery shopping experience, fashion for ladies over 55 and clothing for people living with raynauds, diabetes, or arthritis.
