19 Christmas Visit 2016 A visit to Haddon Hall is being planned for Friday 9 December 2016 to see the Hall decorated for Christmas. It is hoped to arrive in time for tea/coffee and then take a leisurely walk around the Hall to see the Christmas decorations (approximately 1.5/1.45 hours). This may be followed by food at Haddon and a stroll, weather permitting, around the grounds. Cost Leave Lace Road at 11.00am Spaces still available.

21 NEWS ABOUT BEESTON INTEREST GROUPS
22 Art History Art History is running a trip to Florence from Saturday 12th - Wednesday 15th March The cost is per person (costs are based on two people sharing a twin room, single supplements apply) and this includes transport to and from the airport, return flights to Pisa, return coach transport to Florence, a central hotel, 2 dinners, a full art programme including tickets to the Uffizi gallery and the services of an art lecturer. 24 Bowls Group Bowl sessions are arranged for all Fridays at 10.30am lasting 2 hours - all members welcome. Numbers are gradually increasing and we had 8 persons attending which meant we had 2 lanes open. However, the other 2 sessions on Monday at 10.30am and Thursday at 10.30am are booked, and also available to those who indicated that they preferred these dates. Just turn up to any one or more sessions you will be welcome, and they are completely for our members.
25 Buddies There will be no meeting in August. The next meeting will be the last Friday in September.
26 Cinema Group We meet at 10.30am in the (Beeston) White Lion, on the Tuesday immediately preceding the U3A monthly Open Meeting, that is, the Tuesday which falls in the same week as the Open Meeting.

31 SALI International Dance Group There are no sessions in August.
32 Local History Group Alan Windsor and Janet Smith have decided to step down from leading this group because of dwindling attendance. Alan has led this group from its inception and must be quite sad to see the group fold. Is there anyone out there who would like a new challenge and is willing to give this group a new start? As we keep stressing, it is not necessary to be a teacher or to lead the group single handedly. If there is any interest, we can hold a meeting and see if a team can be formed to take on this interesting subject. 35 Photographic Group The Group is full at the moment and we have started a waiting list.
36 Practical Garden Group The Group is NOT meeting in August this year. The next meeting will be on Monday September 19th. Unfortunately we are not able to welcome any new members to the group at present as we are now full to capacity.
37 'Readers Rendezvous Beeston U3As new book group is filling up but still has room for more members and invites anyone who might be interested to get in touch. 46 U3A Group Ethos Please remember that the U3A ethos is about learning with and from its members, once it is known how many members may be interested in joining the group, an initial meeting will be arranged for each of the groups to discuss the formation and way forward. At the present no one is leading any of the groups above If no one is willing to lead or be part of a team, the group will not take place.

49 University Contacts For some time now, Beeston U3A Committee have been trying to make contact with Nottingham University with a view to forging links between our group and the University. Steve Austin and Richard Eddleston are leading this initiative and despite sterling efforts, have had no success so far. We wondered if any of our members have any contacts within the University that they could put us in touch with to see if any progress can be made.
