ASPE has allowed me the opportunity to meet and interact with a tremendous amount of professionals across the country in a effort to be a better engineer, a better colleague, and ultimately a better person. I believe in helping our fellow man as well as doing the right thing. ASPE has become my extended family. We have done some wonderful things with our DFW Chapter of ASPE such creating the first ever CPD reimbursement program, Chapter Scholarship Program, and the DFW ASPE Ambassador Program. During my involvement with DFW ASPE we pushed the envelope for ideas to implement programs that help our members develop as professionals and as people. Providing support to both the direct members through the CPD reimbursement program to the members families with the Scholarship program. We expanded our reach and influence to create a mentoring and development program where we have ambassadors that help regionals area mobilize and charter into ASPE. These programs started with our past President Kelvin Kennedy and continues to with our current president Larry Bartlett. This program alone has resulted into the chartering of the Tulsa, Oklahoma City and most recently the Little Rock satellite chapters of ASPE. I want continue to promote ASPE around the country in my travels, but most importantly I want to continue to strengthen the Region 5 chapters. I am looking to continue our growth and development as a stronger Region 5 makes a stronger ASPE. 1 B hat can ou offer the Societ as a e er of the Board of Directors I bring a tremendous amount of energy, focus, and passion to succeed to the BOD. My track records is one of collaborative work bring people together for a cause resulting in several collaborative works with organizations such as the DFW Construction Education Foundation, ASHRAE, and the Plumbing Education Foundation. Through my time as the DFW ASPE I have pioneered some fundraising efforts that saw your treasury balance increase by over 400% while increasing membership over 20% and while increasing our support of membership through reimbursement programs. I have been fortunate enough to see how great teamwork can produce great results. I look forward to working with Society to achieve successful financial and membership goals.
12 1 C er the ast fe ears, e ershi has een declinin. hat are ou oin to do in our osition to re erse this trend As Region 5 Director, I will stress that region 5 chapters through collaborative sharing of information, techniques, successes, and learning experiences work on focused goals by chapter. Each chapter is different, but we want to make sure that we work together to achieve the main goals of each chapter. I have heard many times that if you don't know where you are going, there are many roads that lead there. I want to help our chapters understand what is most important to them and work with the chapters communicating the society goals in order to create synergies that move both the chapter and the society in the same direction. Membership in professionals societies are driven by the perception of the members as to the cause, status, and reciprocation. Why am I a member? How is the society seen in my work profession? What do I get out of being a member? One of the ways we battle membership is to make sure each chapter looks at these three areas and how that chapters is going to go about answering the question. 1 D ASPE has had nancial ro le s for the last 2 ears. o are ou oin to hel sol e these ro le s as a e er of the Board of Directors Financial success is typically a result of great planing, attention to detail, and awareness of what investments have value versus investments that provide no return. I believe through my work at the Chapter level I can assist the region 5 chapters in meeting their financial goals. A stronger chapter creates a stronger Society. Making region 5 stronger is my focus and financial viability is a must for every chapter. This again has to utilize collaborative work with the chapters board of directors. We will work on individual chapters plans that suite the chapters goals and initiatives while meeting the societies needs as well.
13 1 E hat should ASPE ein doin for the e ershi that the are not currentl doin I believe that ASPE as a society needs to create better teaching and mentoring programs for the individual chapters. I think of the chapters as the foundations from with the Society is built. If you don't have a solid foundation, you won't be able to support the building that Society is building. This has to be done through the leadership of the local chapters. Just as our US Constitution states, "We the People". It is the people of ASPE that make ASPE great. The more we develop the people the better the society will be. 1 F ell the dele ates h the should ote for ou. I ask that my fellow delegates, friends, and members of ASPE to support me in my efforts to create a better ASPE Society. I want to work to bring the Region 5 chapters closer. To create an environment in Region 5 that shares success, failures, and challenges in order to develop our chapters into successful local organizations. Success in our chapters will be based on our fiscal responsibility, our membership base, and our ability to give back to our members. Success is ultimately a result of many failures. I have personally experienced many failures that has lead me to the ultimate success that I have been blessed with. I continue to work through the consequences of past experiences, but I realize that through Christ, hard work, and focus we can achieve all things. I want to ask the members of Region 5 walk with me as we go down this road to a better ASPE Society.
