1 Each school term, Northern Integrated Family Violence Services (NIFVS) produces a calendar of family violence support groups run by organisations in the northern metropolitan region. Support groups include: therapeutic groups for women and children, supported playgroups, parenting groups and men's behaviour change groups. Some groups are ongoing and some are shorter term. The calendar includes groups being run in Term 4, 2017, plus groups that will be run later in the year. Please contact the agency conducting the group before referring a service user to ensure that the group is appropriate. For more information on a group, use the contact details provided. The costs of attendance at the groups vary - the majority of the groups have no charge but it is important to check. If you would like to include your group included on the calendar or would like further information about the calendar please contact Women's Health In the North on or info@whin.org.au.

Facilitated by NRCH senior social worker and Catholic Care AOD and family counsellors Van Tran and Quyen Mai. New referrals are screened to ensure suitability. Elbow Room InTouch This free course is offered to multicultural women who live in Melbourne s Northern Region. It is an educational, trauma informed, movement and self-defence recovery group for women who have experienced family violence. 4 Groups For Women Who Have Experienced Family Violence Keeping Safe, Strong and Smart Plenty Valley Community Health A six week women s group to support those who have experience family violence and to assist in recovering & rebuilding their life. Healthy morning tea provided Aziza Phone: The playgroup is designed for families in vulnerable circumstances who may have experienced family violence, disrupted attachment, mental health, trauma and/or social isolation. The playgroup is facilitated by Family Services workers from CPS and Berry Street. Bright Futures Merri Outreach Support Service Bright Futures run therapeutic creative arts groups for children, in primary and high school, who are supported by homelessness and/or family violence case managers. Bright Futures covers the North and West Metropolitan region and often run groups in partnership with other agencies in the region. 7 Groups For Children and Families Children and Mothers in Mind (CMiM) Children s Protection Society and MOSS CMiM is a 22 week group program designed specifically for mothers and children under four who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or childhood abuse. It is a trauma informed parenting program, which supports mother child relationships and strengthens mothers self-care and stress management skills. One on one support is also provided throughout the program. This group aims to strengthen bonds, improve self-esteem and trust through creative and fun activities.

8 Groups For Children and Families Breaking the Cycle Anglicare Victoria ( office) A group for caregivers of adolescents who are aggressive or violent in the home. Circle of Security Parenting Group Dianella Health The Circle of Security Parenting group is an 8- week learning programme for parents who want to understand and respond to their children s needs more effectively. Parenting becomes more enjoyable and less stressful once these needs are understood. 9 Groups For Men who use Family Violence Caring Dads Children s Protection Society and Uniting Regen Caring Dads is for fathers who have physically abused, emotionally abused or neglected their children, have exposed their children to domestic violence, or who are deemed to be at high risk for these behaviours. Caring Dads combines elements of parenting, fathering, family violence and child protection practice to enhance the safety and well-being of children. 10 Groups For Men who use Family Violence Men s Behaviour Change Program Kildonan Uniting Care The men are invited to consider the impact of the violence they use within their family including tactics of coercive control towards current partners, ex partners and children during an 18 week rolling group.
