8 One Stop Clinic The One Stop Clinic is a specialist service for women who use alcohol or drugs at any time during pregnancy. It is run by Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals Trust. You can book an appointment or drop in and see us at the venues below. 9 Training Updates Alcohol & Ageing As the population grows older and support needs become more complex, it is increasingly important that practitioners are aware of alcohol-related issues affecting the over 50 s. Non-alcohol specialists working with this age-group have a crucial role in identifying the needs of this group, the role that alcohol may play in their lives, and accessing support where necessary. Friday 6th January :30-16:30 Alcohol Screening & Brief Interventions The course equips workers with the knowledge, skills and tools to identify individuals who are drinking at increasing and higher-risk levels and to deliver simple brief advice and interventions. Tuesday 7th February :30-16:30 NPS (New Psychoactive Substances) & current trends (including chemsex) This course highlights changing patterns, prevalence and sourcing of substances being used locally and nationally, and aims to increase confidence of professionals working with those who may be using these new psychoactive substances. It develops screening and assessment skills and enables professionals to support service-users via advice and referral to specialist services when relevant. 11 St Peters Church Saturday Safehaven Every Saturday during term time we have Safehaven: a meal and short service for members of the street community, and our aim is to provide dignity, safety, and community for our guests, with a delicious home cooked meal, and a chance to engage with God in a relaxed setting. Safehaven Women Every Thursday, during term time, 1.30pm-3.30pm, we open our doors to vulnerable women. Safehaven Women offers a cosy, comfortable space to relax in, with homemade meals, tea and coffee, hairdressing, manicures and pedicures, facials, craft sessions and a clothing bank. Safehaven Men Every Wednesday, during term time 1.00pm pm, we open our doors to vulnerable men from across the city and the street community. We serve up delicious cakes, biscuits, tea & coffee at our Safehaven Men Cafe, as well as provide a chance for our guests to come and relax and feel at home. We also put on a short service for anyone interested in exploring faith. Safehaven Mother & Baby Supports pregnant women and new mothers who are vulnerable or homeless in the Brighton area, through befriending, hosting and prayer. Night Shelter The Brighton & Hove Churches Night Shelter works together with ten other churches across the city to take in those experiencing homelessness during the winter months. St Peter s hosts Saturday nights, giving guests a homecooked meal, a bed in a safe place, and a healthy breakfast. We work closely with Crossover Brighton, who provide breakfast for the street community for 52 weeks of the year. For more information see here. 14 Survivors Network Survivors' Network is a registered charity that aims to reduce sexual violence and its impact on survivors' lives. We are a fully accredited member of Rape Crisis England and Wales and are the Rape Crisis Centre for Sussex. We understand that a healing journey starts with a small step and are here to help you. We know that it takes a lot of courage to seek help for the effects of sexual abuse. There is no right or wrong way to feel afterwards and there is no fixed time for recovery. No-one ever asks to be raped or is responsible for the attack in any way. We believe that with the right support you can heal from your experiences.
