Monday, April 24, 2017 Admin Meeting Inquiry from hospital sufficient interest to meet PR and H&I to see if we can help how do we go forward with this Some people (NA members) went and took some things from the inventory out of the house We will be calling the proposal at the last meeting out of order because these people were not authorized by NA to do this and there needs to be somehow to mention that it is not the NA organization that is donating these things. This decision can be appealed if needed.

Chair Report (Louie R.) Chinook Area NA Area Service Committee (April 24, 2017) Hello NA friends in recovery, My name is Louie R and I am an addict. The first quarter of the year has now passed and I just want to thank the fellowship for supporting me on my learning journey as ASC Chair. Here are my highlights for this period: NA House Fire At the last ASC, the fellowship was notified of NA literature being salvaged by a few NA members who proposed to the body for guidance on what to do with the remaining possibly useable materials. After further consideration and deliberations, I will be ruling this proposal as out of order due to the following reasons: (1) The fellowship does not own these salvaged materials since the insurance has already fully compensated us for these lost and damaged materials. (2) The ASC did not ask, authorize or request the NA members to re-enter the house and salvage these materials. They acted on their own accord. (3) The salvaged NA literature needs to be certified safe from chemical contamination by professionals prior to using or donating them. Activities Committee Supported their meeting held on April 13 and further discussed the scheduled service workshop for Saturday, April 29. Public Relations Workshop Supported the Central Area of NA by attending their PR workshop. Our RCM Tim R. and I presented on PR. We need to continue to help this new Area as they continue to grow the NA fellowship. CCNA LWG As Secretary-Treasurer, I met with the local work group to prepare for this year s Canadian convention in Calgary. The fellowship needs to really support and promote this convention! Yours in Service, Louie R.

April, 2017 Vice Chair Report Hello everyone, My name is Justin and I am an addict. I am excited to be here for my first month as vice chair and thank the committee for electing me. I have spent the last month Reaching out to different subcommittees and will begin supporting them as often as I can. This month I sat with the fundraising/activities committee, to help brainstorm different ways to begin raising money! I am excited to be serving and looking forward to learning and making mistakes. Lots of mistakes!!! YIS Justin C

Activities Coordinator's Report April 24, 2017 Hello everyone! With the warm weather returning its time to start looking forward to this spring and summer's activities!! April 29 th is the Service Workshop, at the First Baptist Church from 12-4 pm, the committee will be providing pizza for the potluck, maybe in your announcements this week you can mention that pizza will be provided and we can get a few more people out. I am the Point Person for the the Fundraising and Events committee for the Canadian Convention, and I asked the activities committee if they would be okay with adding a fundraising component for the convention to some of the activities before the convention at the end of September. I thought that if we still hold one activity a month rather than 2 separate activities it would make planning easier and we might get a higher turnout than if they were separate. The Committee members approved of this idea, so we have brainstormed a few ideas. We are going to look into having an NA dance, and see if we would make some money with it. Other ideas were: a large yard sale with a bake sale, a Chinook area bottle drive, and a BBQ where we sell burgers, beverages and potato chips with a campfire meeting. I will have a better idea of potential dates for these events at next month's ASC. There were also a few fun ideas for things we could do at the Canada Day campout. If anyone wants to get involved with helping with planning, just come check out the Activities committee meeting, its the 2 nd Thursday of every month in the Good Earth at Sheldon Chumir at 6:30 pm. The bank account is sitting at $ May's activity is going to be a day in Stanley Park, Saturday May 27 th, from 2-11 pm, that will include a campfire meeting. I will make an official poster once I have some more details sorted out. We're going to have a lot of fun this year!!!! Yours in service, Jayme L.

Hi Folks, sales this month were OK at $1, I did a complete inventory on April 3. In cash and materials I was at $21, This is explained on a separate sheet. This means the Literature Depot owes the ASC $5, With sales I have a check for $3, today. This leaves $1, to be repaid out of literature sales. Today I am making a proposal to lower the literature inventory to $15, This is due to the fire eliminating about $2, in slow moving inventory that I have not restocked. If this is approved than I owe $2, to the ASC. This has been a very trying time for the literature depot. My first objective was the fire not to affect literature sales. Now that I have firm numbers of where we stand the depot is back to normal. Thanks to you all for your patience Yours Lorne G.

Meeting List Coordinator Report April 24 th, 2017 Meeting List Changes: Time The Path is an hour meeting, starting at 7:30pm Location Beltine: The address on the meeting lists was incorrect and has been corrected. Closed Life Happens (Calgary) has closed. There were a total of 900 meeting list printed for the month of May 350 Out of Town/ 550 Calgary. Meeting Lists: $ Supplies: $7.71 Postage: $42.61 *As the Out of Town lists for April were mailed after last ASC, I want to note that there was $80 dollars worth of Postage and Supplies for those. Making April s total $ ) At the last ASC I had asked those in attendance to inform me if their home groups needed more or less Meeting Lists per month. I also asked those who receive the Out Of Town Lists the same question. I heard back from only two groups (Ripple Effect and Saturday Nite Live). The reason I brought this up is because I have noticed many groups, in Calgary, having a bunch of expired lists. I feel it would be beneficial for all if I were to have extras that could be given out to groups if they were to run out. In April, we had a group run out and I was able to restock them. With the PA s coming out, and the known influx of New Comers that come with it, we might see Groups running into the same issue. I think we would be better able to carry the message if we were able to provide each of those New Comers with a current Meeting List instead of having to resort to using out dated ones. 2) We currently provide Aventa, Fresh Start, David Landers, Renfrew and Sunrise with Meeting List. I am hoping to ask ASC if we are able to look into and provide all Treatment Facilities (Calgary) with List.

Inventory of Literature Depot as of April 03/2017 I have just completed a total of all materials for sale by the depot. As of today we have $19, in materials. So I overspent by $3,126.14, this will be returned to the ASC as soon as possible. Depot Financial Report as of April 03/2017 As of today the bank account stands at $18, We have these outstanding checks as explained in last months literature report. $ 2, $ 1, $ 6, $ 7, This leaves $ 1, This includes in literature sales. We also restocked Public Relations to a total of $ in literature and $ to H&I If my math is correct, as of today I owe $ 1, to the ASC with $ 3, to come Yours bleary eyed Lorne G.

Public Relations Report ASC April 24 th, 2017 Greetings N.A members, Our first P.R subcommittee meeting was held on Easter 1pm.There were 2 members in attendance and an overview of our capacity & responsibilities was discussed. Going forward, we are plan to meet on the 3 rd Sunday of each the Good Earth the Sheldon Chumir Health th Street S.W.I have requested that this be posted on our website. Current ideas include utilizing our website for upcoming birthdays or celebrations under the events or calendar related pages. Perhaps it is only because time permits, that not all meetings are able to announce the goings on within our city let alone out of town announcements. A hub like our website may help as it once did. This function could be shared by interested members We are currently only coordinating efforts with coordinators from the Meeting Lists & Website, telephone line and related Public Information roles and responsibilities. For example, an inquiry by a member suggests that there seems to be some interest by administrators at the South Health Campus Hospital in hearing about how our H&I panel can benefit some of the patients there. To this end, an on line audio/visual meeting to introduce ourselves (P.R & H&I) is being orchestrated Further, this officer is also seeking guidance as to whether the coordination of our local NA helpline, a regular newsletter are even related Public Relations. This is as a result of transitioning from the former P.R role as practiced under the former H.O.P.E model of service within the Chinook Area of N.A not so long ago. Regards, Ravi Chinook Area P.R Coordinator public.relations@chinookna.org

Literature report to the April ASC on inventory in Ron s house. Hi All First off I would like to apologize to the other members of the ad hoc committee for not communicating much since the last ASC. I am not a very good ad hoc member. Laura did come over to my place a couple of days later and took all of the archives and some convention items home with her. I do have a box of convention items such as tickets and the cash box at my place yet, the items have some soot on it. Laura can provide a more detailed report. I also gave away books to a treatment centre that wanted to start teaching out of the Step Working Guides. I have the box of HOPE literature as well. I have some more pamphlets to count as well as a few books that are in different languages. A lot of the pamphlets and some books have a lot of soot on them and are probably unusable. The Inventory that I have right now adds up to around a value of approx $7, This total includes what was given away to the treatment centre. From what I see of what is left I do not expect the total inventory that I removed from the basement to be over $9, Kind Regards Ron S.
