1 Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

2 Swim Relay Twenty four teams of 4 6 swimmers competed to swim as many lengths as possible in 30 minutes. The event was open to many teams of different abilities and was held at Maidstone Leisure Centre on Sunday 1st November, 2015 between 12:30 and 4:00pm. All the teams raised money themselves from friends, family and colleagues based on the number of lengths swam. Overall the swim relay raised over 7,000!!! Our team of 6 Young Carers raised over half of which will come to Crossroads Young Carers. Altogether our team completed 60 lengths!! So a big WELL DONE to our team!! This event will be an annual event now so put your name down for next year!

3 BBC Children in Need took place on Friday 13th November. Some of you may have seen the story about George and his mum who live in Maidstone, George attends our little 5 to 7 year olds group. We would like to say a big thank you to George and his mum Judith. George our little star!!

4 We were very proud to see Josie Skivington win a National Try Angle Award in September We nominated Josie as, not only has she been a young carer from a very young age, she also finds time to help others. Josie has regularly volunteered with the Urban Blue Bus that provides valuable care and medical assistance to people socialising in Maidstone town centre on Saturday nights. In school, Josie has been a peer mentor, offering advice and support to students struggling for a myriad of reasons. Josie will always put the needs of others before her own. Josie has continued to care for her family whilst completing her A-level exams and course work. Well done, Josie!

5 Young Carers Awareness Day 28 January 2016 Carers Trust are conducting a survey to find out the kinds of tasks young carers perform and the things they miss out on because of their caring role. The findings will be released to the media on Young Carers Awareness Day, 28 January We need as many young carers to do the survey before 28th January to give the findings the greatest impact. Please use this link or the link via our facebook page. Your responses will help to highlight to the media the difference young carers make and how they are affected by their caring role. 8 A special thank you to... Our thanks go to the Rotary Club who wanted to provide some fun for our 5-7 year olds. Their donation has made it possible for us to invite all our 5-7 year olds to this year s Christmas Pantomime. Our thanks also go to Golding Homes who have made it possible for us to invite more of our Young Carers to see Peter Pan at the Hazlitt Theatre. Huge thanks to Happy Days, enabling us to take groups of young carers to see an evening performance of a London show, Billy Elliot and a day trip to London to visit the London Dungeon, London Eye and the new Shrek s 4D Adventure in the New Year. Rachel accepted a cheque on our behalf from Kent Police. One of two generous donations received this year. We appreciate the support from Kent Police. Thank you.
