2 From the President Dear Friends, 2015 has been an incredible year for our chapter! Meaningful interactions at our member events sparked by the Make a Connection initiative have hopefully resulted in genuine, lasting professional and personal relationships. For me, this is what matters most in keeping a volunteer organization relevant and thriving. Looking back, we saw a dramatic rise in our membership and volunteer numbers, record attendance to PDD, and solid enrollment for our professional development workshops. Sponsor support remained strong and the board actively pursued process improvements and documentation. Looking ahead, however, it is evident that to accommodate the continued growth in membership, as well as the changing needs of members and the business community, we are obligated to expand our service offerings and delivery methods. We likewise recognize this will necessitate organizational adjustments. Your board is already considering modifications necessary to usher in this next era. New Member Experiences This organization really saved me from being overwhelmed during a very difficult time in my professional life. Through volunteering, networking, and making new friends, I was reminded that I have great value to offer both as a project manager and as a human being. I was welcomed with open arms and given the opportunity to volunteer in a leadership role even without a formal certification. Members are always willing to help in every way possible. They support and cheer me on!" Barb Schauperl My experience with KC PMI this year can be summed up in the following words: Networking. Connections. Giving Back. Through my networking, I met numerous professionals in the chapter and made what I believe to be lasting connections. Also, I was able to give back to the chapter and profession through volunteering and creating a webinar that was presented to the Region 6 leadership team.
