1 The Collegiate Recovery Community At UNC Charlotte

2 Before college 7% of all state reported substance abuse treatment admissions was the year old from and remains stable to 2010 (38%). 71% of admissions were male under 17 yrs. old. 53% of all adolescent admissions involved alcohol and marijuana. General trend of high rates of relapse within 12 months of treatment.(spear, Ciesla,& Skala, 1999)

3 Treatment Referrals: Almost half (48%) of all treatment admissions today are year olds

4 RECOVERY A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential. (SAMHSA) A voluntarily maintained lifestyle characterized by sobriety, personal health and citizenship. (Betty Ford Institute )

5 At most colleges few services are available for students in recovery from alcohol and other drugs. Students in recovery are different from students with active substance use problems(binge drinking or underage drinking).
