2 Yoga and Relaxation sessions for school pupils Banff, Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Mintlaw Schools Sessions running all week Aberdeenshire Wellbeing Festival The Aberdeenshire Wellbeing Festival supports Mental Health Awareness week. The festival promotes and celebrates everyday community opportunities which contribute to our wellbeing. A healthy diet and regular exercise are good for our physical and mental wellbeing as are strong social relationships and good community networks. The Aberdeenshire Wellbeing Festival is an opportunity to raise awareness of how individuals, groups and communities can support mental wellbeing for all, reduce stigma and promote recovery. The Festival programme of activities is promoted and delivered on a North, Central and South basis and is a partnership project between Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership other public services, the 3rd sector, community organisation and private providers. All activities will be fully inclusive. We will also delivery varied activities, working with key partners, ensuring we target the children who would benefit most from this programme. Healthy Body Healthy Mind Mintlaw Academy Laura Anderson andersonl@mintlawacademy. aberdeenshire.sch.uk Behind the Mask Peterhead Academy Suzanne Connor and Dorothy Ritchie Behind the Mask All S1 pupils will be working in the Art department designing a mask which displays emotions and how these impact on wellbeing. The completed masks will be displayed in public places throughout the week. 3

4 Wednesday 16th May Laughter Yoga at Family Inspirations 74 York Street, Peterhead 5pm to 6pm Anne-marie Family Inspirations recovery café will host a session of Laughter Yoga with Helen Spencer as part of their weekly café opening. The café will be open from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, the session will take place from 5pm to 6pm. For more information or bookings please contact Ann-marie. All welcome. Laughter Yoga - a unique concept that ANYONE can LAUGH without the use of jokes or comedy. There is a drop in cafe at the church in the afternoon; people will be able to drop in for a cuppa should they wish after the walk and talk. Repair Cafe Hatton Public Hall 7pm to 9pm Ruth Bring along your torn clothes, broken jewellery or small electrical or mechanical item and our repair volunteers will do their best to mend it. We are a friendly lot and there are hot drinks and biscuits aplenty. We are always looking for volunteers. This is a free event although small donations are welcome. Friday 18th May Mindful Art Elizabeth Richards Relaxing forms of art that everyone can do. Find focus and calm through the art of drawing. Quarriers: Aberdeenshire Carers Support Service Drop In Session Tracey Harrison (Family Wellbeing Worker/Volunteer Co-ordinator) will be available to provide support and information on the service provided and volunteer opportunities in the area. This is a short fun look at what stress is, how it affects our brains and our bodies and the connections between the two. We will then use this information to look at ways of controlling our stress and will finish up by using one technique together. Exercise in a Chair (15 min sessions) 1pm to 2pm Elizabeth Richards Seated exercise aims to keep your joints flexible, so improving your range of mobility and motion. It can benefit all, but is particularly helpful for individuals who find standing exercise difficult. These sessions are a gentle introduction that will last about 15 minutes. 6 Deveron Walking Group (Health Walk) Macduff Aquarium Car Park 2pm George Rutten Health walks are social, accessible and low level walks led by trained volunteers/walk leaders for people in their local communities. Health walks, generally lasting up to an hour, run weekly and are free of charge, most finishing with refreshments and a chat at a local café or community hall. So maybe take a couple of pounds along if you do fancy the cup of tea afterwards!
