1 National Service Scheme Academic year A DETAILED REPORT ON NSS REGULAR ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED DURING 13. SWACHH KJC Venue: KJC Campus Date: 06/01/2018 No Of Students Participated: 165 Objective: To keep our campus clean THE EVEN SEMESTER The students were instructed to clean all the wastes specifically plastics that were lying in and around the campus. The activity was carried out under the guidance of the faculty coordinators Dr.Sreedhar PD, Prof.Vinod, Prof.Kalyani.V, Prof.Nayaz Pasha and Prof.Belga Mariya Berck. This event was conducted with the intention of keeping our campus free of plastics and other wastes. Photo: Students clearing the wastes

A Special Talk on Election and Civic Responsibility Venue: Mini Audi -II Date: No Of Students Participated: 210 No of Beneficiaries: 210 Objective of this programme: To educate the NSS Volunteers about Election and Civic Responsibility The program started at 12 p.m. and almost all the NSS volunteers were present for the session. The chief guest for the day was Mrs. M.B.Madhu, Mr.Joshwa from Revenue department. The gathering was welcomed by NSS volunteer Florence, department of Computer science. The session was made interesting and interactive by our NSS programme officer Dr.Shreedhar P.D. He enlightened the students about the election and responsibilities of students towards election followed by an interaction. The session was highly informative.the Chief Guest Mrs.M.B. Madhu clearly explained about different forms such as 6a, 7, 8, etc. Dr.Sreedhar P.D. extended his gratitude to the officers and also appreciated the NSS unit for their active involvement..

4 15. Blood Donation Camp Venue: Main Audi Date: No of blood donors in the camp: 525 No of units of blood donated: 525 Objective: To donate blood to people in need and to create awareness. Blood campaign was conducted by Jayantian Extension Services. NSS unit of Kristu Jayanti College joined hands with CSA to conduct this camp in order to encourage everybody to donate blood. There were 3 organizations - LIONS CLUB, NIMHANS and TTK (rotary) HOSPITAL which enabled the initiative. The purpose of this campaign was to collect blood from students who voluntarily came forward to donate. There were nearly 525 blood donors who took part in the blood donation camp. The donors were acknowledged by issuing a certificate from the respective organizations. Rev.Fr. Josekutty PD appreciated the NSS unit and the donors for their effective involvement. 5 16. Poster presentation Venue: Mini Audi-I Date: No Of Students Participated: 45 Objective: To make the students understand the importance of Traffic and its effect on the environment. The poster presentation was conducted on 19/01/18 at 9.30 am. The students were instructed to prepare the posters based on the following themes. Traffic awareness Pollution Environment protection My vision for world peace Proper utilization of resources The main intention of this programme was to make the students aware of the issues that are prevailing around them and also to assist them to adapt to the changing environment.

Republic day celebration & Swachh KJC Venue: Main Audi Date: No Of Students Participated: 80 Objective: To make this campus clean by clearing all wastes The Republic day celebration started at 7.A.M. The faculty members, NSS,CSA and NCC unit volunteers of Kristu Jayanti College gathered for flag hoisting. The flag hoisting was done at 7.15 A.M. On this day, in order to inculcate the individual social responsibility and also to safeguard the environment, the NSS volunteers of Kristu Jayanti College took initiative to conduct swachh KJC programme. The students were instructed to clean the campus by clearing the wastes that are lying around. This drive was found to be beneficial. Poster Presentation and Awareness programme on drug abuse Venue: main Auditorium Date: 01/02/18 No Of Students Participated: 145 No of Beneficiaries: 145 Objective: To educate the students on Drug Abuse. The session started at 2.35 pm. The NSS volunteers prepared posters on drug addiction and it was displayed to the students to create awareness about various issues pertaining to drug addiction. This session was open for CSA, NCC and MSc students.the session was honoured by the presence of various dignitaries Dr.Chandra Kiran, WHO, Karnataka, Mr.N.H Naagthe, ACP of Sampigehalli and Mr.H. Hariyappa, Inspector of Police, Kothanur. The program commenced with the welcome address by NSS student volunteer Florence from Department of Computer Science. NSS volunteer Simran introduced the chief guest Dr. Chandra Kiran. The chief guest, Dr.Chandra Kiran enlightened the students about drug addiction and the different health issues that are being confronted by the people who lose their lives due to consumption of drugs. He also interacted with the students and answered their queries. NSS volunteer Florence introduced the profile of Mr.M.H Naagthe, to the audience. Mr.M.H Naagthe in his address,emphasized on rules and the government policies regarding drug usage. He created awareness about different types of drugs and punishments for consuming drugs followed by an interaction. The whole session was highly informative. Dr. Chandra Kiran and Mr.M.H Naagthe also advised the students not to consume drugs. The chief guests were presented with the memento as a token of gratitude. The session concluded at 4.30 pm. NSS Farewell function Trupti Venue: Mini Audi -II Date: No Of Students Participated: 210 No of Beneficiaries: 210 Objective of this programme: To appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of senior NSS Volunteers. The session started with an invocation song. The gathering was welcomed by Sharon Deepika, NSS volunteer from BCOM. Following this, the annual NSS report for the academic year , was presented by Eshwari from IV Bcom. In order to appreciate the services rendered by final year NSS volunteers, they were awarded with the certificate and memento by Principal, Rev. Father Josekutty P.D and NSS programme officer,dr. Sreedhar.P.D. Rev. Father Josekutty.P.D highlighted certain important points pertaining to National Service Scheme and how the institution is well recognized for services which it renders to the society through NSS. Dr.Sreedhar.P.D. also shared various opportunities that are available for the volunteers and also appreciated the outgoing NSS volunteers for their services in the academic year The formal session was followed by the cultural programme.
