1 Results-Framework Document R F D Central Frozen Semen Production & Training Institute Director, CFSP&TI, Hesseraghatta, Bangalore (RC) Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries 1 VISION Section 1: Vision, Mission, Objectives and Functions Production and supply of quality frozen semen from genetically superior indigenous and exotic bovine bulls for use in breeding programme of the country 2 MISSION The mission of the Institute is to produce High quality frozen semen from superior exotic, crossbred and Indigenous breeds of cattle and some important breeds of buffaloes and to serve as a Central Depot of frozen semen from outstanding imported bulls for the distribution within the country for breeding the nucleus exotic herds. The Training of technical personnel in various aspects of frozen semen technology is also in the mission of the Institute. 3 OBJECTIVES 1. Production of High quality frozen semen from superior exotic, crossbred and Indigenous breeds of cattle and some important breeds of buffaloes. 2. Serve as a Central Depot of frozen semen: from outstanding imported bulls for the distribution within the country for breeding the nucleus exotic herds. 3. Training of technical personnel in various aspects of frozen semen technology. 4. To organize workshops, seminars in the field of frozen semen technology and allied subjects. 4. Functions 1. Production of High quality bovine frozen semen. 2. Serve as a Central Depot of frozen semen

3 Production and Distribution of Frozen Semen and Training of Professionals SECTION 3: Trend Values of the Success Indicators Objective Actions Actual Production of Quality Frozen Semen of exotic and Indigenous bulls Distribution of Frozen Semen Training of veterinary professions in various subjects relating to Frozen Semen and Infertility problems Actual Target Proposed Proposed The trend values of the success indicators thereby the performance of the Responsibility Center may alter depending on number of active bulls available across the year, the availability of green fodder, timely rains, Drought conditions, disease / outbreak conditions, staff position etc.
4 Section 4: Description and definition of success indicators and proposed measurement methodology. 1. Production of high quality frozen semen: To make available the frozen semen of elite bulls for successful breeding of bovine females thereby to increase the productivity of our cattle. 2. Distribution of frozen semen: To ensure the availability of high quality frozen semen for breeding of cows/ buffaloes at places wherever required. By storage of Semen the desired bull semen is made available for the breeding requirements. 3. Training of professionals: To impart advanced knowledge in the related fields and to develop the efficient human resources to carry out the breeding activities effectively. Section 5: Specific Performance Requirements from other Departments 1. ICAR Institutes like NIANP/NDRI: To timely assess the nutritional and manage mental requirements for proven bulls maintained at the center for assaying the health status. 2 State government: Co-ordination with State implementing Agencies like livestock development board, Directorate of AH state department, breeder association & Milk Union is required for successful implementation of scheme. 3 IAHVB and SRDDL, Bangalore: To execute periodical disease testing and immunization programmes.
