40 YEARS OF AUTHORS STUDIES CALCIUM DEFICIENCY PERSE DOES NOT CAUSE RICKETS: SCIENTIFIC REVELATION In our extended epidemiological work we had further studied 57,500 children with dietary calcium deficiencies and living in villages endemic and non-endemic for fluorosis, to discover the metabolic effects of calcium deficiency and fluoride ingestion on bone disease and metabolism, individually and in some combinations in the natural rural environment.
EPIDEMEOLOGY OF CALCIUM DEFICIENCY AND FLUORIDE INTERACTION SYNDROMES Villages Numbers Mean Age Yr. Calcium Intake mg/d Fluoride* Intake mg/d Percent of Rickets Endemic for fluorosis 28, Non-endemic for fluorosis 29, None * From Drinking Water All had hrs/d of sun exposure, similar rural physical activity, dietary intakes and life style habits.

VBS 5x Histomorphometric appearance of iliac crest biopsy from calcium deficient child showing normal indices of mineralized bone. VBS 100x
HISTOMORPHOMETRY IN CALCIUM DEFICIENCY AND FLUORIDE INTERACTION RICKETS Biopsy from 9yr old girl showed wide osteoid seams and trabecular hook resorptions with 20HPT. VBS-100x Biopsy from same patient under fluorescence showed only a few tetracycline labels and confirmed mineralization defect. VBS-100x
Tetracycline labeled iliac biopsy (12 yr old) with calcium deficiency and fluoride interaction rickets showing excess of unmineralized osteoid (OS thickness >65 m) with diffuse uptake of labels. VBS 100x
CONCLUDING IMPLICATIONS Fluoride in drinking water was estimated by Teotia and Teotia during their personal surveys. None of the published reports on calcium deficiency rickets had estimated fluoride in the drinking water and also the clinical, radiological and histological evidence for rickets is missing in the majority of the reports. Our surveys had revealed that several other countries (rural areas) Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, African rift valley are also endemic for fluorosis and the rickets reports from these countries is also a syndrome of calcium deficiency and fluoride interactions. Most of the population in these countries consume megadi which contains fluoride 1-6mg/g of megadi, which further exaggerates the toxicity effects of fluoride. Our long-term personal studies, provide the scientific proof of evidence that the calcium deficiency alone does not cause rickets and the cases reported are infact the syndromes of calcium and fluoride interactions - the breaking scientific revelation.
