2 Passive-Aggressive Individual: Someone who may appear to comply or act appropriately, but actually behaves negatively and passively resists How Toxic Employees Sabotage the workplace

3 Passive: Submerges one s rights to someone else s needs Aggressive: Focuses on one s own needs Assertive: Blends one s own rights with others rights How Toxic Employees Sabotage the workplace

4 Passive-Aggressive Characteristics: 1. They rarely express their hostility directly. 2. They re unreasonable. 3. They repeat their subterfuge over time. 4. They re uncomfortable to experience Identify Passive-Aggressive Behavior

5 The Puzzled Pretender This person fakes misunderstanding.

6 The Excusafarians They conveniently don t hear, see, or remember responsibilities.

7 The Behind-the-Back Bellyacher They constantly complain about other people.

8 The too trivial to take issue These people fall just short of compliance.

9 The Team two-timer This person diminishes the ends, knowing responsibility is on the team.

10 The Crusading Kiss-up This person goes around his or her supervisor to fake good performance.

11 The Reverse Paul Revere These people create a crisis just so they can solve it.

12 The Protracted Performer They take on assignments but take too long to complete them.

13 The Agreeable annoyance They present themselves as agreeable, but cause small problems and snarky comments.

14 Passive-Aggressive Song It s not me; it s you. He s a master of illusion. They take credit where credit isn t due. They put the fun in dysfunctional. They are saboteurs. He stirs up things behind the scenes. The PA person is skilled at gatekeeping. She can be difficult to terminate.

15 Their actions are rooted in coping with stress, anxiety, and insecurity. Expect toxic people. Don t personalize. Control Your Emotions

18 Use your sense of humor. Control Your Emotions

19 A paper trail is important. Have a witness. Set clear expectations. Control Your Emotions
