2 AUTUMN SRE objectives: To recognise and compare the main external parts of the bodies of humans and other animals. That animals, including humans, move, feed, grow and reproduce. That humans and other animals need food and water to stay alive. That humans and other animals can produce offspring and that these offspring turn into adults. About senses that enable humans and other animals to be aware of the world around them (Science) How the body changes as they approach puberty. Learn about the human lifecycle and label organs (Science Ourselves) Health Education: To name the main parts of the body. To maintain personal hygiene.

4 SPRING SRE: Health Education: That taking exercise and eating the right types and amounts of food help humans to keep healthy. That bacteria and viruses can affect health and that following simple, safe routines can reduce their spread. Discuss everyday preventative measures such as hand-washing and not sharing drinks, etc.

6 SUMMER SRE objectives: What makes a healthy lifestyle, including the benefits of exercise and healthy eating? Health Education to also be covered: To know how to make simple choices that improves their health and well-being. That taking exercise and eating the right types and amounts of food help humans keep healthy. How some diseases spread and can be controlled. (Science Ourselves) Which commonly available substances and drugs are legal and illegal, their effects and risks School rules about health and safety Learn about the safe storage and use of medicines both at home and at school. Learn to distinguish between medicines and drugs all medicines are drugs but not all drugs are medicines. To be aware of eating/drinking foods which may not be safe, e.g. distinguish between sweets and pills. The danger of picking berries, drinks which may be alcoholic, etc. Learn about the safe storage and use of household substances, e.g. bleach.
