Services will be resumed on 22 February The Academy wishes all Fellows prosperity in the Year of the Monkey! Career Talk co organised with Hospital Authority, 16 January 2016 The Academy co organised a Career Talk for interns with Hospital Authority (HA) on 16 January 2016 at Hospital Authority Building featuring highlights from the centrally coordinated recruitment exercise for resident trainees. The Academy s Vice President (Education & Examinations) Prof. Lau Chak sing attended the career talk and briefed the interns on postgraduate specialist training. Prof. Lau also introduced the function, facilities and developments of the Academy. Vice President (General Affairs), Prof. Fok Tai fai also attended the career talk. After the presentations by HA representatives and Prof. Lau, 16 specialties were divided into two batches with representatives from HA & the Academy stationed on site to answer enquiries from the interns. The theme for this year s meeting is "Postgraduate Education Assessment. MEC 2016 is designed to showcase excellence in medical education and will constitute a platform for thoughts provoking discussions and sharing of experiences among medical leaders, health policy makers, academics and allied healthcare practitioners. The one day Conference features plenary lectures, symposia and workshops, delivered by renowned local and overseas speakers. For details, please click here. Members of HKAM and other healthcare professionals who have graduated from the IMS instructor courses (i.e. IMS Simulation as a Teaching Tool: Instructor Course, or IMS Advanced Debriefing Course) are invited to apply for this Programme. Successful candidates will be provided with sponsorship for this Programme. Those who have completed this Programme are expected to be actively engaged in the Simulation based education activities of HKJC ILCM. Events Attended by the President and Officers 2 nd Biennial Asia Pacific Conference of the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM), 9 January 2016 The Academy was one of the supporting organisations to the Conference, with a theme on end of life and ageing and shared decision making. President officiated the opening ceremony as the Guest of Honour. Participants were inspired by the keynote speech on "The Importance of Uncertainty", delivered by the former President of the Royal College of General Practitioners and British Medical Journal columnist, Dr. Iona Heath. The Conference brought together experts from around the world to discuss how the science and technology community would best support the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction A networking dinner with some close working partners of HKJCDPRI was hosted by President. During his stay, President also visited and had a working meeting with Dr. Ian Norton of World Health Organization to update him on the latest development of HKJCDPRI and explore further collaboration opportunities. In this edition, ten dissemination reports of projects related to health economics, cardiovascular diseases, mental health, and paediatrics are presented. In particular, three projects are highlighted due to their potentially significant findings, impact on healthcare delivery and practice, and/or contribution to health policy formulation in Hong Kong.
