Summer semester (hrs.) L C S L C S Department of Pharmacology Total: Educational goals (goals for lessons set by instructor, related to the results of education, max. 6 items) C1. The aim of the course is to show the rules of rational pharmacotherapy, benefits and risks of pharmacotherapy. Students are taught how to verify the sources of knowledge about drugs and critical review of medical papers. After the pharmacology course students should know general terms from pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and pharmacoeconomics, should also know basis for drugs action, and are able to characterize groups of drugs, their pharmacological effects, pharmacokinetics, indications and contraindications, adverse effects, interactions and basic dosage regiments. Student should also know how to calculate proper doses and prescribe simple prescriptions or orders to the nurses. Matrix of educational results for subjects in reference to methods for verifying intended educational results and manner of conducting lessons. Number of educational result Manner of lessons: ** provide symbol C.W34, C.W.35, C.W.36, C.W.37, C.W.38, C.W.39, C.W.40, C.W.42, C.W. 43, C.W.44, C.W.45 C.U. 13, C.U.14, C.U.15, C.U.16, C.U.17, C.U.18, C.U.19 Description of educational result (in conformance with detailed educational results defined in standards) Student defines basic pharmacokinetic terms, describes groups of drugs, explains their action, indications and contraindications as well as interactions, adverse effects and knows management with intoxicated persons. Student is able to verify the dose of drug depending on the function of main organs and prescribe it on the prescription form. Student could also asses the toxicity of various substances in regard to patient s age or health. Methods for verifying achievement of intended educational results * oral or written examinations oral answers, tests, presentations, colloquium, prescriptions *e.g.. test, presentation, oral response, essay, report, colloquium, oral examination, written examination; ** L- lecture; S- seminar; C- class; EL- e-learning; Student work input (balance of ECTS points) Lessons on-site (hrs.) 150 Own work (hrs.) 67,5 Summary of student workload 217,5 ECTS points for subject 10,5 Remarks L C
