3 2. Ingredients functions and effects Glutathione 1) Whitening - Glutathione dose dependently inhibited melanin synthesis in the react ion of tyrosinase and L-DOPA. The inhibition of melanin synthesis was recovered by increasing the co ncentration of L-DOPA, but not recovered by increasing tyrosinase. Glutathione inhibited the binding between tyrosinase and L-DOPA. Alth ough the synthesized melanin was aggregated within 1 h, the aggregat ion was inhibited by the addition of glutathione. These results indicate that glutathione inhibits the synthesis and agglut ination of melanin by interrupting the function of L-DOPA. 2) Antioxidant - Glutathione is the body s most powerful and important antioxi dants, present in each and every cell in the body.
