LONDON YEAR 10 Collège Stendhal From the 8th to the 13th of May 2017
Day one: Monday the 8th of May We left the school at 6am on Monday morning. We stopped every 2 hours for a break. At 12pm we ate our packed lunches on the coach. The atmosphere was great: some people listened to music and some spoke with their friends. We took the Eurotunnel at 4.50pm it was very impressive. During the trip in the Eurotunnel we spoke with Dutch students. The trip in the tunnel lasted for 30 minutes. Because we were ahead of schedule we went in a park and played rugby. We met with our host families at 7 pm in Orpington. The trip was great! Paul & Morgane - 3A On the first day I woke up at 5am. Then, I went on the coach. During the trip I listened to music and played cards. At 12pm, I ate my packed lunch. At 4.50pm I took the Eurotunnel, I liked it. At 7pm, I arrived in a park in Orpington and later I met my host family. For the first dinner I ate chips and pizza, it was delicious! Ilian - 3C
Day two: Tuesday the 9th of May We woke up at 6.30am. We had breakfast, it was made of toasts, cereals, jam, juice... We got ready for the first day then we left to take the coach. We arrived at 9am, we walked around Greenwich park. Next we visited the Maritime Museum and finally we had around 45mins of free time in the town centre. We went to different shops then we ate our packed lunches in front of the Cutty Sark. This morning was great and the weather was nice. Joanna & Antoine - 3A Like every day, we woke up at 6.30am and we ate cereals with milk at breakfast. We went for 7.30am to the meeting point to reach London. We visited the district of Greenwich which is located south east of London. The travel lasted for 1 hour because London is an enormous city so there are a lot of traffic jams. To begin, we went to the Royal Observatory and we saw the Greenwich Meridian. After that, we walked in the park until the National Maritime Museum. We saw a lot of old boats and we learnt how to drive a ship. To finish this morning, we went to Central Greenwich to eat our lunch which was made of turkey's sandwiches. Clément - 3A On Tuesday s afternoon, at 3pm, we visited the London Eye. On the London Eye there are 32 high-tech glass capsules and the rotation takes approximately 30mins. We had luck with the weather because it was sunny. We saw the beautiful landscape and we loved it! After the London Eye we walked around the South Bank, it was so long but it was funny and a nice walk! Carèle - 3A
My favourite activity was the London eye because the view was amazing. It lasted for 30 minutes. Ghais - 3D The London Eye is situated in the heart of the capital. At 135 metres, the London Eye is the tallest wheel in Europe. It is high enough to see up to 40 kilometres and to see spectacular details of the city and famous monuments like Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral and Canary Wharf. Florian C. - 3D On day 2 we had breakfast alone. In the morning we went to Greenwich: the National Maritime Museum, the Meridian Line and the Royal Observatory. At lunch time we ate behind the Cutty Sark, it is the most beautiful boat. In the afternoon we went to the London Eye it was for me the most beautiful sight of all London, it was breathtaking! At night we ate spaghetti with chicken and vegetables it was delicious. For me this day was one of the best! Mathis 3A
Day three: Wednesday the 10th of May During my London trip, I visited a lot of amazing places and among these places, my favourite was the London dungeon. We woke up at 6:20 AM, we arrived there at 10:05 AM. We were divided in groups, I was in Miss Allée's group and it was amazing. We learnt many things about famous characters of London's history like the plague Doctor, Mrs Lovett It was so scary that we thought it was real. It lasted for one hour and twenty minutes. We laughed a lot so we spent an unforgettable moment together. I really enjoyed it and I hope that I will go back there again. Nada - 3D My favourite visit was the London Dungeon. It was a little scary but I like being scared. Neirouz - 3D On Wednesday the 10th, day 3, we woke up at 6.30am. We went to the kitchen to have breakfast. The breakfast was delicious because there were bacon, toasts with jam and honey, baked beans, eggs and hot chocolate. After that, we went to our room and we got ready to go out. We went to the meeting point at 7.30am and we took the coach to go to the The London Dungeon. The coach left us and we walked to the London Dungeon. We entered in the London Dungeon at 10am. This attraction was very good because we had fun and we screamed. We learnt a lot of things about the city of London and we learnt who was Jack the Ripper: a terrible criminal who was anonymous. In the London Dungeon, we took a train in the dark: it was very cool because we were happy and we screamed. We went out of the London Dungeon at 11.30am with a lot of memories. After we looked for a park to have our packed lunches. Antonin - 3A
On the Wednesday morning we woke up at 6:15 we had breakfast: - cereals -waffles After we went to the meeting point to take the coach. We went to for a 90 minute of on-the-edge entertainment. The London Dungeon is a must-see visitor attraction that brings together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects. It's funny but it's very scary. Manon & Charline 3A On Wednesday, we woke up at 6:40am. We had breakfast without our family because the children were already at school. We had cereals and toasts with nutella. After that, we took the car at 7:15am to go the meeting point. Then, we took the coach, like everyday, it was boring When we arrived in the city we walked to the London Dungeon, it was awesome and a little bit scary. We learned about different murderers, it was very good. Anonymous We went to the London Dungeon. It was sunny. The London Dungeon is located next to the London Eye. It is a 90 minute of on-the-edge entertainment with 2 thrilling rides and 18 live shows. It's funny and a scary experience. I loved it! Marc 3C In the afternoon, we went to Shoreditch a popular but beautiful area. We saw lots of street art: graffiti, paintings, It's very original and unique. The artists come from every countries in the world however many of them are French. The graffiti dealt with politics, racism and war. We think it was interesting and surprising. Mathilde & Adrien - 3A
Day four: Thursday the 11th of May On day 4 we woke up at 6:15 am, and we had typical breakfast: -eggs with bacon -baked beans it was very delicious. We left Orpington at 8:00am. We arrived at the British Museum at 10:00am We saw the Rosetta Stone and mummies it was too amazing. In the Greek collection there were a lot of sculptures, it was impressive! Pauline - 3C On Thursday 11th, we woke up at 6am. The breakfast was very good. There were eggs and beans, bacon and apple juice. At 7.15am we went to the meeting point. At 8am we visited The British Museum. We were interested in the Egyptian and Greek collections. We took photos of the mummies and sarcophagus. We discovered that Champollion discovered the Rosetta Stone. I think the visit was a bit too long. At 12pm we had our lunch. In the afternoon we visited Camden Town it is beautiful. At 7pm we came back home. We ate a burger with chips it was a very big meal. At 10pm we slept. The bed was too small. The bathroom was very small. What a shame because the family was very good. Anonymous We arrived by coach in Camden town. After, being counted we had some free time to eat our packed lunches. At 1:30 pm we visited Camden Town and we did some shopping. At 3:00 pm in groups we went to Camden Market. At 5:00 pm we met up by the coach to go back to the meeting point. At 6:30 pm we went back to our host families. Thomas & Elodie - 3A
Day five: Friday the 12th of May On day 5, we ate breakfast alone. It was bread and Nutella. At 10 am, Patrick (the driver) left us in the Westminster Area and at 11 am we saw the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. It was raining so we left the place earlier. What a shame! We ate a sandwich that we bought because our packed lunch was not nice. In the afternoon, we walked in Soho. We went to Piccadilly circus, I loved it, but there was a lot of brand imitations. Alexandra - 3C On the 12th we saw Buckingham Palace and after we waited to see the royal guards. They played music and walked on the street. We stayed next to the fountain. It was rainy. What a shame! After the lunch, we walked around Soho, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, 10 Downing street,... We shopped some clothes, shoes, glasses At 7pm, we took the boat and we went back to Besançon by coach. Anonymous The changing of the guard ceremony began at around 11:00am. We found this ceremony was awesome because the atmosphere is so serious, smart and musical. This ceremony was very supervised, there were a lot of police. It was good but a little bit long. What a shame it was rainy! Marion & Mathis 3A
In our opinion, this trip in London was very interesting because we visited a lot of monuments and museums, for example the British Museum and the London Dungeon. Free times were very nice because we could do shopping on the streets. Furthermore, we had lots of fun in our families, they were very warm. However, the length of the trip on the coach was too long! Martin & Rémi - 3A Everyday, we woke up at 6:30am. On day 2, we visited the London Dungeon, it was so scary! On Day 3, we went to the British Museum, it is a good museum but it's a little bit boring. On the last day, we walked in Camden Town and we bought a lot of presents, shoes, sunglasses, etc. Finally, our host families were very nice. Inès - 3A During the school trip we had some free times in the well-known districts of London: Camden Town, Carnaby Street and Covent Garden. It was very nice. We could buy some gifts for our family and friends. Nour 3C The host family was friendly and nice. However, the food was not delicious. Florian T. - 3D
