1 CLUB CHRISTMAS FUNCTION, WHEELERS HILL INTERNATIONAL. Friday 17 th December This year our Christmas function was held at the Wheelers Hill International Reception Centre in Jells Road. Members arrived between 11.30am and midday, congregating in the foyer for a pre-dinner drink and chat before moving into the dining room for our annual Christmas luncheon and celebration. President Ann welcomed members and invited guests to the luncheon. Lunch was served and comprised an entrée of deep fried camembert cheese and salad or a prawn cocktail followed by alternate plating of roast turkey or pork medallions with vegetables. Dessert was steamed pudding with cherries and ice cream. Musical entertainment was provided by the very versatile Cliff McAulay who displayed his talents on electric piano, guitar and trombone during the function. Our regular highlight of `Lucky Table Prizes`, was led by `Santa Claus` (Leo in disguise) much to everyone s enjoyment. A very special thank you PROBUS presentation then followed for our hard working Activity Co-ordinators in appreciation of their efforts in making our club activities great fun and a success. Ann then introduced a provocatively dressed and bodily enhanced, (and very unlikely), trainee secretary called Davinia, who charmed us so that tears rolled down our cheeks. Some of us tried not to be enticed by the caress of her tender lips! Davinia then led us all in carol singing. What a charmer she (he?) was! At the conclusion of festivities President Ann thanked everybody for attending and expressed her appreciation to the Committee members and other helpers, Santa, Davinia, Cliff McAulay and venue staff for making today such a success. Ann and Leo then wished everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Photos courtesy of Lynn Carter, Leo Squires, Ian Andrews, and Robin Bray. Commentary by Ann Godbold and Robin Bray. Ann announcing what PROBUS stands for. Jan holds up `P`.
