1 FINDING CATTLE HEALTH STATUS IN CAMBODIA FROM Final workshop on best practice health and husbandry of cattle, Cambodia (19-20 July 2012 ) Presented by Dr. Suon Sothoeun, Ph. D in Veterinary Sciences, Cambodian Project leader, Deputy Director Department of Animal Health and Production, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Kingdom of Cambodia Collection, Surveillance and identify key Methods: Passive collection data of cattle and buffalo diseases. The data were collected from DAHP, OAHPs, NGOs, International Organizations as well as from other institutions; Active surveillance on cattle and buffalo diseases, collecting samples and testing at laboratory for diseases confirmation. Surveillance and identify key cattle and buffaloes diseases Six project sites that have had the similarity were selected for disease surveillance: Sen Son Tbong and Veal of Prey Chhor district in Kampong Cham for intervention and control; Nor Mo of Tram Kok district and Dem Pdet of Trang district in Takeo province for intervention and control and Preak Por and Koh Kor of Saang district in Kandal province for intervention and control respectively. Each location at least 250 cattle of different sex and age groups were selected: Intervention group Three project sites were selected in three provinces: Kampong Cham, Kandal and Takeo provinces. Sen Son Tbong of Sra Gnea commune, Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham; Nor Mo of Cheang Tong commune, Tram Kok district, Takeo and Preak por of Saang district, Takeo province.
2 Cattle were selected, identified tag number hanging around the neck. The selected animals vaccinated against HS and FMD alternatively for every six month. The following information is recorded: parasitic infection rates (facal collection and analysis), Brucellosis, FMD, HS and others diseases, weight, condition score, skin status, draft ability, animal sale, and reproductive performance. Fecal and serum samples as well as other samples (FMD and bacterial samples) were selected to test for parasitic infection and other diseases such as FMD, HS, Brucellosis etc. Control group - Three project sites were selected in three provinces: Kampong Cham, Kandal and Takeo provinces: Veal of Somroeung commune, Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham; Dem Pdet of Preak Slek, Trang district in Takeo province and Koh Kor of Preak Koy commune, Saang district in Kandal province

Fecal and serum samples as well as other samples (in case of disease outbreak or suspicious case) were selected to test for parasitic infections and other diseases such as FMD, HS, Blackleg, Brucellosis etc. The following information is recorded: parasitic infection rates (facal collection and analysis), Brucellosis, FMD, HS, Blackleg and others diseases, weight, condition score, skin status, draft ability, animal sale, and reproductive performance. 5 Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2007 was recorded in 8 provinces BL - was recorded in Kg Thom The annual report 2007 of the Department recorded that cattle and buffaloes were sicked and had been treated due to diseases. FMD serotype AsiaI and O were confirmed. Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2008 Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2009 was recorded in 17 provinces BL - was recorded in 6 provinces recorded in 12 provinces Heamorrhagic Septicemia is endemic in Cambodia. The disease caused cattle and buffaloes sickness and died Total of heads of cattle and buffaloes affected, of these cattle were sicked and 165 were died, 764 buffaloes were sicked and 244 were died. In addition, pigs were also affected of these heads were sicked and 279 heads were died.
6 Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2009 Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2010 was recorded in 15 provinces BL - was recorded in Kompot recorded in 15 provinces HS caused cattle and buffaloes sickness and died (sick cattle heads, and died cattle heads; sicked buffaloes heads and died buffaloes heads). BL caused 07 died cattle in Kompot. FMD outbreaks were recorded 82 locations in 15 provinces of Cambodia: 60,378 Cattle and buffaloes affected: 58,614 sickness and 1,764 death. Pig: 996 sickness and 217 sickness According to the FMD sero type test results, FMD sero types O and Asia I were detected (Wilai 2010). Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2010 Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2011 was recorded in 10 provinces BL - Was recorded in 2 provinces recorded in 19 provinces HS outbreaks were recorded 53 locations in 10 provinces: Cattle: sickness and 110 death Buffaloes: sickness and 265 death. BL recorded in 2 provinces: 73 and 8 cattle and buffaloes sickness, 6 cattle death Foot and Mouth Disease outbreaks recorded 97 times in 19 provinces in Cambodia:11,664 head of cattle and buffalo were affected: 11,335 sickness and 329 dead. Outbreaks were recorded in pigs: 8,458 pigs affected, including 6,965 sickness and 1,493 dead.
7 Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2011 Main Infectious Cattle and Buffalo Disease 2012 was recorded in 12 provinces BL Was recorded in Mondolkiri recorded in 3 provinces HS recorded 64 times in 12 provinces: Cattle affected: 1,035 (927 sickness and 108 dead) buffalo affected::877 (784 sickness and 93 dead). Blackleg is sporadic: The disease was recorded only in Mondulkiri, causing 36 sickness and 2 deaths among in cattle Foot and Mouth Disease outbreaks recorded 10 times in three provinces: 154 head of cattle and buffalo were affected: 83 cattle sickness and 6 dead and 60 buffaloes sickness and 5 dead.
