2 MEMBERSHIP/ADMISSION FEES All fees include sales tax already figured in. Membership fees effective February 1, A $20.00 surcharge is assessed on a returned check. Definition of a family: Consists of one or two parents or legal guardians and all children defined as youth (a youth is anyone 18 and still in high school) living in the same household. A college student age 23 and younger may be considered part of the family and may be considered on the membership. A child will not be considered on a family membership if the child is 18 and out of high school, not attending college. Definition of Single Parent family: Single parent/guardian and their dependent children living in the same household. Children up to age 18 or 23, if full time college student, must have proof. College student: To get college rate, the student must provide a current class schedule. Children 5 years and under are admitted free (with a paying adult). Youth are considered to be 6 to 18 years old (still in high school). Adults are considered to be 18 years and older. Senior Citizens are 62 years and older. Membership cards are not transferable to another person and your card should be scanned at the Control Desk when arriving at the Rec Center. Cards are for the use of the person whose name appears on the front. Membership cards are issued to members who are 8 years and older. Youth under 8 years of age are expected to be with a card holding adult and under their supervision. 1 year and 1 month memberships are for that period of time from the date of purchase. PAMP (Pre-Authorized Monthly Payment) applies to annual memberships only. The member is agreeing to have the membership at least 1 year. This annual membership is paid for by a monthly withdrawal from your bank account. The first month can be pro-rated for the remainder of that month from the date of purchase and each monthly withdrawal will be mid-month. The withdrawals and membership will continue after the first year until the member notifies the Rec Center office in writing of his/her wish to cancel (need 30 days notice). 3 SHELTER HOUSE RESERVATIONS Reservations can be made by calling the Carroll Recreation Center, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm: Shelter House Renting Procedure: Renting of Shelter Houses may be done 1 calendar year in advance. If you want to rent a shelter house in which the date falls on a weekend of the next year you will need to make the reservation on the following Monday. The rent payment must be mailed in or dropped off at the Rec Center within 10 days of making the reservation. The rental fee is nonrefundable but may be used towards another date within a one-year period in the event you need to cancel within 2 weeks of your reservation. If you cancel less than 2 weeks, no credit will be given unless there is an emergency. Open shelter houses are available to the public on a first-come-first-serve basis. The open shelter houses at Rolling Hills Park, Northeast Park, Northwest Park and Maple Park may be reserved. The city will post a Reserved sign to hold the shelter houses for your event. 4 WINTER SWIM LESSONS Preschool Level 1 A Preschool Level 1 is for a 4-5 year old who does not put his/her face in the water yet. Participants should have little to no fear of participating in a pool environment and have an attention span for a period of at least 30 minutes. This is the most basic swim level. Students are taught elementary aspects of swimming, such as submerging the face, breath control, and building overall confidence in the water. Session 1: M, W, Th December :30-6:00pm Session 2: M, W, Th December :00-6:30pm $30.00/member; $38.00/non-member Preschool Level 2 A Preschool Level 2 is 4-5 year old who can dunk his/her head in the water and can float with assistance. Participants should be comfortable in the water including submerging the face and holding his/her breathe. Students will begin to develop independent movement in the water by learning skills such as floating, gliding and kicking. Stroke coordination is also introduced. Session 1: M, W, Th January :30-6:00pm Session 2: M, W, Th January :00-6:30pm $30.00/member; $38.00/non-member Preschool Level 3 A Preschool Level 3 is for a 4-5 year old who will float unassisted. Participants will also work on being able to float on their backs. Skills such as basic stroke coordination for front and back crawl will be introduced. They will also begin some deep-water skills. Session 1: M, W, Th February :30-6:00pm Session 2: M, W, Th February :00-6:30pm $30.00/member; $38.00/non-member Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills For those students who can submerge their head. Level 2 students will be taught to float without support and recover to a vertical position. Students will learn to float on front and back with glide, swim a combined stroke front and back, demonstrate rhythmic breathing, tread water and swim on side. Safety Skills. Ages: Attended kindergarten and older Session 1: M, W, Th February 23 - March 12 6:30-7:15pm $32.00/member/session; $40.00/non-member Level 3: Stroke Development (will be working in deep water) For those students who know the basics of the crawl stroke. This level coordinates the front and back strokes. Skills such as deep-water work, treading water, and diving from the kneeling or standing position are taught. Students will learn front crawl with rotary breathing, back crawl, butterfly arms and leg motions, a kneeling or standing dive, survival float and retrieve a submerged object. Safety Skills. Ages: Attended kindergarten and older Session 1: M, W, Th March 16 - April 2 6:30-7:15pm $32.00/member/session; $40.00/non-member

6 FITNESS CLASSES - AQUATICS Flex & Stretch This one hour water class set to music is beneficial to seniors or anyone with health issues or movement issues that cause problems when exercising on hard surfaces. You will increase your flexibility and get your heart rate moving while in chest deep water. No need to know how to swim. Class Time: 9:00-10:00am Monday, Wednesday, Friday Instructor: Kelly Glass Aquasthenics A great way to start the day with this 45 minute workout set to music. Get your heart pumping with some calisthenics in waist deep water. All the moves that can be difficult on land are easier in the water, but you are still getting all the benefits of the moves. Class Time: 6:00-6:45am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Instructor: Kelly Glass TRAININGS Lifeguard Training Class A Lifeguard Training Class will be held at the Carroll Rec Center. This class is open to anyone who is 15 years and older and possesses at least a Level 5 Certificate or that ability. There are approximately 30 hours involved in this class. CPR and Red Cross First Aid are included as part of the class. Students should bring their swimsuit, notebook, pen to the first class. The December class schedule will be held for 3-4 days during Christmas break, if you have any conflicts (vacations, practices, etc.) during this time, please sign up for the March Lifeguarding class. Dates: Monday, December 29, am - 5pm Wednesday, December 31, am - 5pm Tuesday, December 30, am - 5pm Friday, January 2, am - 5pm $ member/ $ non-member (includes book) A $50.00 non-refundable Deposit is required at the time of registration. 7 FITNESS CLASSES - FITNESS ROOM Stretch & Strengthen A full body workout with free weights in 45 minutes! This is a no-impact class which includes exercises while sitting, standing, and lying. Each person works within their own comfort zone. A fun class, done to music, for all ages. Class Time: 8:30-9:15am Monday, Wednesday, Friday Instructor: Susan Glass Fit Mix Fit Mix is 45 minutes of variety. It includes low impact, some high impact, and strengthening moves. It will elevate your heart rate and tone your body all over. All moves can be modified to fit different fitness levels. The best thing about Fit Mix is you won t be bored because the workout will vary day to day. Class Time: 5:30-6:15am Monday, Wednesday, Friday Instructor: Tyler Tuel Fit in 30 Fit in 30 is a high intensity interval workout done in 30 minutes. It is a challenging class combining cardio training and weight training. A perfect class for a lunchtime workout. Class Time: 12:00-12:30pm Monday-Friday Instructor: Stacy Gehling, Tyler Tuel Pilates Pilates connects you to your core! This class is great to tone the entire body, help you gain flexibility and strength. This is for all levels of fitness and we show alternative moves to accommodate everyone!
