2 WELCOME This program guide will provide you with information regarding memberships and descriptions of our programs offered. 3 MEMBER SERVICES MEMBERSHIP CARDS All new members will receive a bar-coded membership card which they are required to scan each time they enter the Y facility. If lost, the cost is $1 for a replacement card. DAY PASSES Non-member guests who would like to use the facility are required to pay for a day pass and sign in at the front desk. Guests are expected to follow all rules set for members. LOCKER ROOMS AND LOCKS For your convenience, lockers are available in the locker rooms for daily use. We strongly recommend you bring a lock to secure your personal items. Lockers are available to members to rent for a monthly fee - please inquire within. AGE GUIDELINES Youth under age 8 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or be participating in a YMCA program while in the facility. Ages 8-13 must be accompanied by a legal guardian in the Wellness Center areas and have completed a fitness center orientation. For safety measures, children under the age of 8 may not enter the Wellness Center; children ages 8 to 13 need to complete a fitness orientation prior to using the Wellness Center. Ages 8 to 13 must also be accompanied by a person of at least 18 years of age. All children under age 8 must be supervised by a parent/guardian while in all areas of the facility. Please refer to our Child Watch program for additional options. 4 HEALTHY LIVING Join the Y and utilize the Wellness Center! Sign up for a FREE Fitness Orientation which is available to all adult and young adult members. To use the Wellness Center, youth 8-13 yrs old must complete a Fitness Orientation and have a parent present in this area during use. Fitness Orientations may be arranged at the Front Desk. NOTE: Children under 8 yrs are not permitted in the Wellness Center, Free Weight Room, or in Group Exercise Classes. See our Child Watch options on page 10 for alternate options for children under age 8. RACQUETBALL COURT In addition to our Wellness Center, Free Weight Room and other program areas, the Harrison County YMCA features two racquetball courts. Members and guests may reserve the court for a fun and energetic game of racquetball. If you have any questions concerning our Wellness programs, contact our Sports & Wellness Director at or via to bwalker@harrisoncountyymca.org YMCA Members FREE Non-Members Day Pass Fee GROUP EXERCISE NEW exciting classes are offered throughout the week - FREE with your Y membership! Our instructors focus on creating a warm atmosphere where all fitness levels are welcome. Classes are subject to change - be sure to check the current class schedule at the front desk or on our website. Non-members must purchase a day pass to attend classes. Note: some classes have limited capacity for participation. SILVERSNEAKERS A low-impact cardiovascular workout exercising on and around a chair. This fitness class includes working with light weights, resistance bands/ tubing, abdominal crunches and more! TAI CHI A slow-paced, graceful, low-impact form of exercise which can improve balance, increase flexibility and mobility, improve health, quality of life and psychological well-being, as well as decrease pain, fatigue and stiffness. Mon-Wed-Fri 10:15-11:15am Tues & Thurs 10:00-11:00am ZUMBA Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International musicdance with routines that feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow dance steps to tone and sculpt the body. Good for any fitness level. 4 Mondays Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:00-8:00pm 11:00am-12:00pm Mon-Wed-Fri 9:00-10:00am CYCLING Join us for a ride that will give you a little bit of everything: intervals, hills, sprints, climbs, runs, and jumps. All to music picked to motivate and inspire. This is a great workout to burn calories and increase endurance. Mondays & Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm

5 GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES TRX - TOTAL BODY RESISTANCE TRAINING This leveraged body weight exercise builds power, strength, flexibility, balance, mobility and helps prevent injuries. Choose your intensity! Saturdays 8:00-8:45am *Class limited to 10 participants TABATA CARDIO This thirty minute class is a cycle of high/moderate adjustable intensity workouts followed by rest periods. The repetition is designed to bring faster results than a typical cardio session. This class is great for beginners and those in need of a quick morning workout! POWER CARDIO A combination of cardio and lifting, this 45 minute class will tone and firm every muscle group while increasing cardiovascular health. No class is the same. Using both heavy and light weights, you will sculpt your body. All fitness levels are welcome and encouraged to join us in building the perfect you! Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm POWER YOGA This flow style yoga class focuses on using specific postures to build strength, flexibility, and balance. A challenging body and mind workout using breathing and mindfulness for a complete yoga experience. Sculpt a leaner, stronger body while releasing stress and fatigue. Mon-Wed-Fri 8:00-8:30am Mondays 6:00-7:00pm STRONG BY ZUMBA This is a High Intensity Interval Training class using more traditional fitness moves for a more athletic, conditioning-style workout. You use your own body weight as resistance to achieve muscle definition. YOGA This flowing yoga class is ideal for members with health concerns or for beginners. Increase flexibility and vitality in a format that emphasizes gentle yoga postures and proper breathing. Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm Tuesdays & Thursdays Mondays & Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 am at the Y 7:00-8:00pm at Days Inn WELLNESS COACHING Let our personal trainers be your coach with a structured, personalized fitness program and help you achieve your goals! Our trainers will give you the support and motivation you need to commit yourself to a healthy lifestyle. Sessions are flexible to fit your schedule. SINGLE SESSIONS: Fees for Individuals: YMCA Members $30 for 1 hour Non-Members $40 for 1 hour BULK PACKAGES: Fees for Individuals: Buy 5 one hour sessions, get the 6th hour free! 6 AQUATICS PROGRAMS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION Don t wait until the last minute to get your certification to work this summer! The lifeguard course includes lifeguard certification, plus First Aid, CPR and AED. ALL classes must be attended (a fee of $50 per class will be assessed for make up classes). Recertification participants must bring a CPR mask with them to class. Maximum class size: 10 students *A non-refundable $25 deposit will hold your spot and will be applied to the balance if the qualifying swim pre-test is passed. Contact the Y for exact class dates and times. First-Time Certification YMCA Members: $250 Non-Members: $265 Recertification YMCA Members: $150 Non-Members: $165 WATER AEROBICS CLASS Join our instructors for a complete body workout using the water as resistance. The class is a combination of cardio, strengthening and toning with little impact on the joints. Morning Tuesdays & Thursdays Evening Tuesdays & Thursdays 8:30-9:30am 7:00-8:00pm AQUA ZUMBA CLASS Just add water and shake! Zumba in the water is a whole new level to experience! Mon-Wed-Fri 8:30-9:30am 6

7 SWIM LESSONS GROUP LESSONS Parent/Child Class (Ages 6 months 3 years) The primary objective of this 30-minute class is to promote enrichment and aquatic readiness. Parent/child pool interaction helps prepare children for swim lessons. The main goal is getting the child to feel comfortable in and around the water. Saturdays 9:30-10:00am YMCA Members: $27 Non-Members: $37 Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3-5) As the first experience in the pool without parental assistance, the child is taught basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming. They also learn about pool safety and the use of personal flotation devices. During this one hour class, participants are divided into skill levels. Saturdays 9:15-10:00am YMCA Members: $35 Non-Members: $52 Youth Lessons (Ages 6-12) This class is based on a logical, multi-level progression that helps children of varying abilities develop their swimming and water safety skills. Saturdays 10:00-10:45am YMCA Members: $35 Non-Members: $52 Private Swim Lessons Private lessons are taught by specialized and caring swim instructors using the guidelines of the YMCA swim lesson program. Clients of ALL ages are taught based on their needs, abilities, circumstances and goals. YMCA Members: $25 per hour Non-Members: $35 per hour 7

8 SPORTS PROGRAMS KARATE PROGRAM All levels of Chi-Do-Kwan Freestyle Karate are taught at the Y. The Introductory students learn the basic stances, blocks and kicks used in the ancient art form. The class helps develop concentration, coordination and agility, as well as building a greater self confidence. The Beginner/Intermediate/ Advanced Class continues skill development while learning basic Kata, Free Sparring and Self Defense techniques. Introductory Class Ages 6-8 Fridays 5:30-6:15pm YMCA Members: $32 Non-Members: $45 Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Class Ages 9 & up Tuesdays 6:30-7:45pm YMCA Members: $32 Non-Members: $45 Fridays 6:15-7:30pm YMCA Members: $32 Non-Members: $45 FENCING & CLUB TRAINING En garde! Participants receive the benefits of sharpening mental discipline and engaging in physical activity, while learning about a sport with centuries of history and tradition. The course covers safety and conditioning, as well as fundamental techniques, footwork, strategy and rules. Participants must provide own equipment - rental equipment is available at the Y for an additional fee. Ages 10 and up Thursdays 7:00-9:00pm YMCA Members: $30 Non-Members: $45 8

9 CHILD CARE PROGRAM ENSURE A BRIGHTER FUTURE SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE (SACC) Our School Age Child Care, for ages 5 to 12 years, provides a safe and structured environment with many activities to keep your child busy and focused. Some of the activities your child will experience while enrolled in the SACC program are: Homework time Arts & crafts Games Gym time & play opportunities Outdoor activities Nutritional component Child care is available Monday through Friday, before and after school. We also provide all-day care for scheduled school closings PLUS weather-related delays and closings. Location: Nutter Fort Primary/Secondary School Before School Care: 6:00am - school start After School Care: school dismissal - 6:00pm SACC FEES: Before AND After School: $80 per week per child Before OR After School: $65 per week per child A one-time enrollment fee of $20 is due at the time of registration. Financial assistance may be available to those who cannot afford YMCA fees. Please call or stop by the YMCA for an application. If you have any questions relating to our Child Care Programs, call SUMMER DAY CAMP The purpose of Summer Day Camp at the Y is to help youth grow spiritually, mentally and physically. YMCA Day Camps give young people an experience that can last a lifetime and inspire them to continue involvement with the Y for years to come. Campers participate in daily swimming, arts & crafts, games and more. YMCA Day Camp is state licensed care - we accept Choices subsidies! Age Categories: Little Explorers - Ages 3 to 5 (Limited to 14 campers) Adventurers - Grades K to Age 7 Voyagers - Ages 8 to 9 Challengers - Ages 10 to 12 Camp Dates: TBA - check back soon for camp dates! Camp Fees: $90 per child per week Camp is held weekly, Monday through Friday. Camp activities begin at 8:30am and conclude at 4:30pm each day. Daily drop-off time begins at 7:00am Pick-up time concludes at 5:30pm A one-time enrollment fee of $20 is due at the time of registration. Financial assistance may be available to those who cannot afford YMCA fees. Please call or stop by the YMCA for an application. We do accept Choices. 9

10 BIRTHDAY PARTIES Make your child s birthday fun, exciting, and memorable with a birthday party at the Harrison County YMCA! Parties are held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons during regular operating hours. The two-hour time frame includes one hour in the pool first, followed by an hour in the party room. Maximum number of attendees for each party is 20. After-Hours Parties and Lock-Ins are available - please inquire within for special pricing. YMCA Members $55 Non-Members $85 Dates and times are based on availability and must be scheduled at least one week in advance. A non-refundable deposit of $25 is due at time of reservation. The deposit will be applied to the total cost of the party. Full fee must be paid before the date of the party. To schedule your child s next birthday party at the Y, call us to reserve a date and time TODAY! CHILD WATCH Our YMCA has a pleasant environment for your children ages 6 weeks to 8 years old in our Child Watch room. While you work out, your children are cared for by our qualified staff. 6 weeks - 8 years old MORNING HOURS Monday, Wednesday & Friday Tuesday & Thursday 8:00am 11:00am 8:00am 12:00pm EVENING HOURS Monday 5:00pm - 8:00pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 4:30pm - 7:30pm NOTE: Child Watch is free for Harrison County YMCA members and $1.00 per child, per visit for non-members. Hours are subject to change at any time. Parent or guardian must be in the YMCA facility during Child Watch participation. In order to ensure the safety of all children, a staff to child ratio will be enforced during high attendance times. 10

11 VOLUNTEERING Do you wish to see the Y reach new heights? The YMCA is founded upon the principles of volunteerism to achieve our mission in our community that we serve. Volunteer opportunities are available all year to utilize your time and skills to help the Y achieve its goals. Common volunteer opportunities include: Youth Basketball League Referees Scorekeeping for Youth Basketball Leagues Help with special events and fundraisers held throughout the year Routine daily cleaning and maintenance in the facility Youth sports class instructors Youth enrichment programs To explore volunteer opportunities, contact any member of the management team at the Harrison County YMCA! SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY YMCA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The YMCA works to ensure that regardless of ability to pay, we make it possible for everyone in the community to participate in our programs and activities. For that reason, our Y has a scholarship program to make our programs and activities more affordable. In previous years, the Y awarded over $150,000 in membership and program subsidies to those who could not afford the fees. If you believe in the mission of the Y and you believe in how the Y can help individuals and families in our community with improving their health, then please consider a donation to the Harrison County YMCA Annual Support Campaign. The Annual Support Campaign is our yearly drive to fund the scholarship assistance program. One hundred percent of the money donated goes directly to the benefit of children, adults and families in our community. 11
