Spring 2018 Newsletter Since our beginning, Living Hope has often been referred to as LHI But LHI does not communicate who we are or what we do. To better convey our heart and mission, We are avoiding this acronym and using Living Hope as our title. This speaks of the Living Hope provided to our children, By saying Living Hope, we will be pronouncing Special words as a Special blessing over a Special people. Upcoming 2018 Mission Trips to Living Hope June Living Hope s first mission team of 2018, led by Jamie and Kathy Flowers, will leave for Zambia this June. They will focus on mentoring and encouragement by working with those who care for the children: housemothers, men and the older boys. They will also have a small construction team building furniture for the Performing Arts Center and they will have a special outreach that will include Pastor Brent Buttermore and Chris Musonda, Head of CRU - Zambia. Please keep them lifted up in prayer as they plan, prepare, travel and minister to our Zambian family! August In August, Living Hope is taking a larger team to Zambia. Kim and Kathy Cooke will again lead the Performing Arts group and continue to provide the children with an opportunity to engage in the arts (music, dance, theatre and more). Tom Crabill and Larry Trumbore will lead a construction team working with the locals in developing our campus and the creation of a new Sports and Recreation Ministry venue will be led by Bill Phillips. In addition, the team will be continuing its partnership with Pastor Kurt Alber and Cody High School; perhaps, as many as 4 Cody students/teachers will participate in the trip.

Living Hope Coffee We are very proud of the coffee being grown on the Living Hope land! It is an important source of income that supports the work of Living Hope. Pray for the continued development of our coffee and be watching for exciting news in this regard! Get your coffee (whole bean, ground or k-cups) at Construction News The children moved to the Living Hope campus in August of 2017! Construction continues and the campus is looking beautiful! To see the campus check out the photos and videos at Sponsors Needed! Please prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor for one of our children or a housemother. For more info: Or kathy@livinghopeinternational.org and cc trinadavis7982@gmail.com Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3)

Georgina Meet Some of the Living Hope Family Written by Gloria Sondoyi (Zambian Board Member) Edited by M. Beaudoin and S. Dembicki Georgina has been a Housemother with Living Hope for three years. Prior to joining Living Hope, she worked as a home-based care provider for Mpongwe Hospital. Her experience there has been invaluable in her role as a housemother for our children. Georgina is a mother herself, having 6 children. Her biological children range in age from 32 years to 15 years old. Georgina s favorite hobbies when she has free time are cooking, sewing, and reading. What she loves about Living Hope: -Living Hope has helped her grow spiritually as it is a Christian organization -It has lifted her living standard -Allowed her to gain more knowledge through in-house and outside training ***Please consider sponsoring Georgina! Esther We have two girls named Esther, and Esther Mwewa is the older of the two. She is in grade 10 and her favorite subject is history because she wants to be a journalist upon completion of her education. History gives wide knowledge of the past and so she said this subject will help her attain her goal in the future. Esther helps with chores around the Living Hope home. When she has free time, she likes singing and dancing. Her favorite Bible character is Esther because she was a brave woman and she wants to be like her. What she loves about Living Hope: -The spiritual and physical support that she is given

Chisanga Chisanga has been with Living Hope for 5 ½ years. He is in grade 4. His favorite subject in school is mathematics as he says it is easy for him to understand it. He wants to be an Engineer once he completes his education. He loves playing football and dancing - both of which he is very good at it! Chisanga is a prefect at school, which gives him additional responsibilities in the classroom. His favorite Bible verse is Luke 18:16 because it helps him to know that Jesus loves him. He is well-liked and always has a smile to share. Around the LHI home, Chisanga helps with simple chores. What he loves about Living Hope: - He loves the housemothers who give him quality time and the care they offer -The environment is good and offers all that he needs Did you know? 5 June 2017 Mentoring Encouraging and developing mentoring relationships remains a focus of the June trips. The 2017 team continued investing in the men and women who invest in the children of Living Hope. The Living Hope boys and their mentors enjoyed a day at a nearby park. U.S. and Zambian sisters in Christ June 2017 Coffee The June trip takes place during the peak of our coffee harvest. During the trip, we were able to establish a method for fermentation, an important step in the drying process when creating a specialty coffee.

June 2017 Serving The men on the team began the trip by showing the Jesus Film to the workers on the Living Hope Campus. Every morning before work they watched follow-up videos, had a short discussion and prayed to start the day. Sealing the floors and making the new home ready for the kids to move in August! The Team was able to take a day to deliver food and other supplies to the extended families of 7 of our Living Hope Children. The families were blessed by the gifts and the opportunity to see how well the children are doing. Innocent with his Grandmother who cared for him before coming to Living Hope in Tensi with uncles who were excited to see her.

August 2017 Performing Arts Camp (PAC) The Living Hope Children, along with members of the August team, performed for an appreciative audience at the Chayana Performing Arts Theatre and again at church on Sunday. The performance included worship dances, instrumental and vocal performance, and it s Cool in the Furnace (an adaptation of the story of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego). The older girls prepare for dance at church. The younger girls at dress rehearsal. Dalitso and Angelita Scene from It s Cool in the Furnace

August 2017 Performing Arts Camp (PAC) Rehearsal Some of the Cool kids! Audience at Chayana Arts Theatre Audience participation after the performance

August 2017 Athletic Courts The construction team helped install volleyball and basketball courts. It was a blessing to watch the Living Hope children, as well as children from the surrounding area enjoy the courts! August 2017 Dedication of the Chayana Performing Arts Theatre The August team conducted a beautiful and emotional dedication of the Chayana Performing Arts Theatre in memory of Davies and Josephine Chipoya s son, Chayana who went to be with the Lord in December, 2016.

August 2017 Cody High School Partnership Cody High School sent two students to Zambia, for the first time, with the PAC team in August. Several students applied and after meeting each candidate, interviewing each candidate and praying over all applicants, Living Hope leadership selected the following young ladies who became beloved team members! Jalisha with some women in the bush. Nala rehearsing with one of the newest Living Hope family members. August 2017 A Special Reunion Gracie Once a Living Hope resident, Gracie was adopted by a Michigan family about 10 years ago. In 2017, Gracie and her father, Kenny, were a part of the PAC team in August. Gracie was able to reconnect with housemothers and former Living Hope residents. More about Gracie in our next addition! Nala, Shay, Gracie, Melanie, Jalisha Special Thanks to Melanie Beaudoin, Shay Dembicki & Gloria Sondoyi for the Spring 2017 Newsletter Contributors: Lee & Trina Davis, Jamie & Kathy Flowers
