2 Greetings Brothers, I am so excited to get our 2018 lodge year started! Your elected executive board has had their annual retreat, created goals for this year and are ready to serve you. This lodge plan book contains all of our 2018 goals. I hope that you ll take the time to read these goals and ask yourself what can I do to help my lodge? This year will be packed with lodge, section, and national events. I want to see you dance at Indian Winter, play a team building game at Spring Gathering, welcome new Brothers at Induction Weekends, compete at Heartland Gathering, represent at NOAC, explore STEM activities at Fall Fellowship and serve our community and camps through our service days. You are Egwa Tawa Dee and without you, we don t exist. The ones who choose you, need you... As your Lodge Chief, I want to continually improve our communication, our programs and our service. These three things are at the heart of Egwa and I ve asked our LEB to focus on them in These detailed goals are included in this lodge plan book. 4 2018 Egwa Tawa Dee Lodge Vision: We see ourselves as a lodge that is recognized by Atlanta Area Council leaders and scouts at the unit, district, and council level for: Giving service to the community, Scouting, and our council camps, Recognizing Scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law as well as a spirit of unselfish service, Supporting adventure in the outdoors, and Providing meaningful leadership opportunities for Scouts to grow and develop. Council Service: Promote summer camp and other outdoor recreation opportunities in the council. Help recruit summer camp staff for both in-council scout camps. Complete at least one service project for one of our council camps outside of Induction Weekends. Provide service as requested at council events and functions. District Service: Each chapter will provide service to their district as directed by their District Chairperson and District Executive. Program: Provide a meaningful program to increase membership retention and to promote our image throughout the council. Encourage and promote participation in the Lodge Recognition program. Continue to refine the program of the Trailblazer Adventure Camp with emphasis on Cub Scout advancement. Continue to develop to the Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) Egwa University to accommodate both returning and new members alike. Promote American Indian Activities in the lodge and in the chapters. Have all events committees formed 60 days out for the event with the exception of the Adventure Camp Committee which should be formed six months in advance.

5 Inductions: Administer effective and impactful induction weekends to provide a positive first impression for candidates, increase membership retention and activity, and to ensure a more seamless transition from callout to Brotherhood conversion. Continue to provide activities and fellowship for new Arrowmen after their completion of the Ordeal ceremony at Induction Weekends. Continue to expand the Elangomat and Nimat program through more training opportunities and the promotion of the Honor Elangomat and Nimat award. Continue to refine the unit election process through more training opportunities, the promotion of election execution in accordance with National policy. Administration: Work towards earning Journey to Excellence (JTE) for the lodge and its chapters through effective record-keeping, training, and the setting of short-term goals. Implement an effective committee system in which all chairman may communicate and perform their duties in an environment which fosters new leaders. Continue to refine the Vigil Honor selection and induction processes. All chairmanships will be filled by Spring Gathering. Chapter Support: Enhance chapter functionality by improving chapter/lodge communication, chapter financial infrastructure, and unit presence. Build a positive image in the units through the chapters and revitalize the Troop Representative program for grassroots promotion of OA activities and functions.

7 Visit all chapters as invited by chapter leadership. Try and appoint all committee chairs by Spring Gathering. Make sure my officers do their jobs, have every thing they need and make sure they fulfill their positions as best as they can. Provide them with encouragement and feedback. Make sure unit election paperwork is processed and we enter everything on time. Make a strong and active committee stronger. Build upon the accomplishments of the previous officers and continue to move the lodge in a positive direction reflecting the progress they have started. Work with the Executive vice-chief to make sure we are on the same page and are working together to accomplish our goals. Together, we are to help the Lodge and make sure we train for the upcoming year to make the officers the best they can be. Promote participation in events and serve as an example for the members of the lodge.

8 Increase retention rates from the previous year. Start Adventure Camp planning the beginning of the year and have finalized plans by May. Try to visit each chapter in the lodge with the chapter chiefs and advisors invitation to promote lodge to chapter relationships. Make sure LLD gets planned and gets executed correctly. Unit election paperwork turned in respected time frame. Better prepare unit election teams within the chapters to try and promote why the OA is a benefit for the unit. create a spoof patch set for the year to make our lodge fun! Making winter banquet more fun to attend by adding more friendly activities for the participants. Create a cumulative database of Order of the Arrow Troop/Team Representatives and their advisers across the council, including a contact list that can be used to promote events directly to troops. Incentivize the OA Unit Excellence Award to increase unit involvement.

9 Organize and facilitate a major service project undertaken by the lodge throughout the year to benefit our council and exemplify cheerful service. Add new trainings, games, and fellowship ideas to existing events to continue providing an engaging program to all brothers. Incorporate the Lodge Strategic Plan into event planning to help fulfill the purpose of respective events.

10 Work with the Elangomat and Nimat chairs for online training and develop a mentoring program. Work with registration to get an accurate time that candidates are checked in so that ceremonies can start and end on time. Promote ceremonies and give good examples of who to go to if you would like to join one. Support the Ordeal Master in his duties. Find a new Brotherhood chair who is not a ceremonialist. Coordinate with the Vice Chief Program to improve Tailypo and have the process run smoother. Coordinate with the service Chair to provide service projects during Induction Weekends for available Brothers. Work with the Secretary to help candidates and Brothers remember the Induction Weekends. Work with the Executive Vice Chief to increase retention and activation of new Brothers.

11 Introduce new lodge memorabilia and intriguing items to the trading post Find a way to help the lodge make profit either by adding new items to the trading post or incentivizing the return of new ordeal members Plan new strategies for implementation in the 2019 lodge budget. Seek new revenue streams as well as money-saving methods to create greater financial freedom for budgeting in the future. Tailor trading post selections to lodge members' preferences. Survey lodge members in order to introduce new products that reflect their tastes. Monitor and tabulate lodge expenditures and income. Present an overview of lodge finances at each LEC to gauge adherence to the year's Budget. Create a product-based reward to deter membership loss after the Ordeal. Introduce a product that incentivizes return attendance after the induction weekend. Research the pros/cons of offering OA sash embroidery servicesfor our lodge members.

12 Improve Social Media (3 posts a week) to better spread the news of the lodge. Live posting on social media from lodge events. Implement remind 101 texting service. Getting out 4 quarterly Quivers, plus three ordeal special editions (revamp schedule). Improving use of video for promotional and archival purposes. Getting out a personalized message to new Brothers from lodge chief and secretary. Ensuring we have a slideshow for each lodge event.
