Welcome back to Aggie Moms Club! I am so excited about our new year and cannot wait to begin my second term as your President. Last year ended with 137 members and over half were brand new moms. We worked hard through our fundraising and were able to give $19,000 in scholarships and $3,800 to ten different student organizations on the College Station and Galveston campus. Our $25,000 endowed scholarship was paid off and our first $2,000 scholarship was awarded for the academic year. This could not have been done without the help of each and every one of you moms and everyone deserves a huge WHOOP. The Board and I would like to invite you to our first General meeting of the year, August 15. At this meeting we will have our annual HOWDY party to welcome new students who will be attending Texas A&M and their Moms. So, if you have a friend or neighbor that will be attending A&M this year, please invite them and their mom to attend. The Board began planning for this year and we are very excited about our upcoming events. There is a place for everyone to volunteer and meet new friends, whether it is working in our boutique, making Aggie survival bags for semester exams, or selling poinsettias. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you throughout the year. Get ready! Our first meeting will start off as a YELL practice with the Galveston Yell Leaders on August 15. Cost: $8.00 Attend Aggie Mom Camp 2016 When: October 14-16, 2016 Where: Hilton Hotel, College Station Theme: Keeping The Spirit Consider attending this camp to ease the transition as your child leaves home to attend Texas A&M University and learn more about the wonderful traditions of A&M. Aggie Mom Camp is also a great weekend for the experienced Aggie Mom. Activities include campus tours, group sessions, skits, shopping and lots of bonding with both old and new Aggie Moms. 3 A BIG Shout Out to our Own Aggie Mom Holly Smith From Sally Berlocher, President Holly volunteered to work on our boutique committee last spring. The committee decided one mom would be in charge of our very popular farm signs and Holly jumped at the chance. The minute she volunteered she began working with Susan and Robin to learn about pricing, shipping and taking orders. Late May she sent me a note and we discussed how she wanted to develop an online store. Perfect idea, let s move forward and in late July we went live. We put it on our website, and on every social media we could find and in just over 24 hours we had orders for hundreds of dollars and almost 20 signs. Not to mention more than 1,800 views on the store website. We had orders from Colorado to Georgia and all over Texas. We were so excited. Holly and I were texting at all times of the day and night, did you see we got another order. It has been such fun and would not have been possible if this mom had not stepped up in the true Aggie tradition. Thank you Holly from all of your fellow Aggie moms'! 8 Aggie Mom Camp October 14 16, 2016 Hilton College Station Deadline: Must be postmarked by September 19, No refunds after the deadline. Pass it back it s time for Aggie Mom Camp! Our Aggies have Fish Camp, T-Camp or Howdy Camp to aid in the transition to college life and to orient them to the traditions at Texas A&M University. In 1994, Aggie Moms Camp was created to help current Aggie moms to pass on the traditions of Texas A&M University to new Aggie Moms. Since then, this event has become a way for new and seasoned Aggie Moms to come together as a part of the Aggie Family. There will be speakers, entertainment, a campus tour, meals and lots of mom-raderie! Come join us for a weekend of Keeping the Spirit. This is an Aggie Mom Camp t-shirt and jeans weekend!
