They donated the printed poems that we use with the quilts/blankets. Project Linus Bakersfield has donated 35,313 blankets/quilts to date. Project Linus Community Make A Blanket Day will be September9th. Look in newsletter for details. Project Linus is partnering with Baby Box more details are on page 7 of the newsletter. I love what Project Linus does by 1) providing children in need with a blanket, handmade with love for security, comfort, and 2) giving back to the community. I would like to thank all of the wonderful volunteers that make quilts, blankets, donations, etc. Without your help, Project Linus would not be as successful as it is today. Thank you Kim Linder

Each chapter of Project Linus is self-sustaining, and we rely on donations to help us provide for children in our community. Our local chapter is donating approximately blankets per month to children in crisis situations in the local area. 6 Project Linus July/August 2017 Page 6 of 9 Project Linus Community Make-A-Blanket Day September 9 th 9:00a.m 2:00p.m. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 5600 Panorama Dr, Bakersfield, CA As a community, would you like to join with Project Linus to help serve the special needs of children in our area? Here is how you can help: Bring fabric/materials/scissors and help us make blankets. You may bring new handmade completed blankets ready to donate Fabric (1 1/2 yard lengths), batting, and yarn may be donated (flannel, cotton and fleece are accepted) NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Any help is appreciated. Project Linus welcomes all styles of blankets crocheted, knitted, quilted, fleece. Blankets are for infants through teen years, so any size is appropriate. MATERIAL LIST TO MAKE A FLEECE BLANKET: 3 yards of fleece and good scissors

7 Page 7 of 9 Blanket Sizes: Preemie and Newborn: 18"X 18", to 24"X24" Baby: 30"X 36", to 36"X 36" Child: 40"X 55" to 40"X 60" Teen: 45"X 65" to 45"X 72" These sizes are approximate. A larger blanket will fit all sizes of children but a small blanket will fit only the smaller ones. Project Linus July/August 2017 We are partnering with Sleepy Baby Box Foundation a 501 non-profit charity organization. We will be making Flannel blankets that are size 30X 30 or 30X36 Our Mission: About Our Foundation Sleepy Baby Box Foundation is a 501(c) non-profit charity organization for women and children. The Sleepy Baby Box Foundation donates Baby Boxes, which are safe sleep spaces for infants up to 6-8 months of age. Statistically, young and impoverished teenage mothers have the highest incidence of infant deaths due to SIDS. Please include your name, address, and/or with each blanket so we will know whom to thank!
