1 Message from Our ANFPVA President, Gloria Spottswood Happy Holidays!!! I suppose the greeting is appropriate, as we bake pies, plan our Thanksgiving menus, and anticipate time we'll spend with our families at Christmas, Chanukah, and Kwanzaa, as we get ready for 2020! Rest assured, ANFPVA is being rebuilt on a sound foundation. We are making progress. Our board is aware that progress may seem slow, and we know Virginia members may get a little discouraged... but we say "HOLD ON" because a new day is coming! ANFPVA Chapter Board members have been busy working on filling board vacancies, strengthening our financial footing, increasing and maintaining our membership, promoting our purpose as Food Services professionals, and working out the many details of our April 18-20, 2019, Spring Conference, in Charlottesville, Virginia at UVA, Inn at Darden. Although, the lift may seem heavy and a bit overwhelming at times, in the rebirth of our statewide association, we continue to reach out to our members all over the state of Virginia, seeking your support, because this, is absolutely worthwhile and deserving. Please continue to have faith and belief in ANFPVA, and trust in your board members, who are working very hard and diligently to gain your loyalty, as we grow and build together. 4 Timothy W Schoonmaker, CEC, CCA, CDM, CFPP, FMP- I have been in the food service industry for over 2o years. I am almost done with my MBA, and have my BS in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University. I am not only involved in the ANFP board, but also I am on the nominating committee for AHF, and sit on the board for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Virginia organization, as well as a mentor. I oversee the food for Centra Health in Lynchburg VA, with 175 employees and 15 members of the food service leadership team. I firmly believe that food is an important part of the healing process and quality is key! I have been a CDM since 1995, and I am currently employed as the Food Service Director at Birmingham Green in Manassas, VA. I over 25 years of experience in food service, from B&I, Restaurants, colleges, to ALF & LTC. I hold a AA in Business Management, BA in Business, as well as LNHA. My passions are football and food. Fly Eagles Fly!!!!! At 15, I went to school and got my two year Culinary Arts Certificate, and I won, 1st and 2nd place trophies from Marriott, in Cooking Contests, and I got my first Food Services job. My career had begun. At 23, I got my AAS Degree in Hotel Restaurant Institutional Management/Food Services. In my 30's and 40's, I returned to school to take Web Page Design to build my website... and opened my small business, KASH4, related to my career. I also received Food Safety Trainer status through NEHA, and also received her CDM, CFPP certification. At 53, I returned to school again, to earn my Entrepreneur Certification. I took training and passed testing on NAB - AL/SN LTC. I also trained and became certified in Mental Health First Aid. I've been a Director, a Cook, a Barista, and Dishwasher, in hotels, restaurants, schools, and healthcare, from UVA, to Marriott, to Brandywine. My love and therapy is shopping in Asian and Hispanic/Latino supermarkets. I LOVE to eat out. I've raised 4 children, and I'm helping my son move into management, at a fine dining restaurant where he works. I am unemployed, reaching retirement age, raising my 3, young grandsons, and working to rebuild ANFPVA. My passions!

5 Andrew Fillers, CDM, CFPP, is the Multi-Service General Manager for Sodexo Senior Living at Warm Hearth Village located in Blacksburg, VA. Andrew has 15 years of leadership and management experience and is a ServSafe Instructor/Proctor. One of the things he enjoys the most is mentoring people who aspire to move up in the food service industry. He received his Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional credentials through the University of Florida in He served as a board member for the ANFP, Tennessee Chapter, as the fundraising chair and assisted with coordinating annual chapter meetings from 2005 to Andrew moved to Virginia in 2010 with Sodexo and met his wife, Amanda in Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife, Amanda and dog, Lola. They love Hokie Sports and attend as many games as possible. Kelly Honeycutt, RD, CDM, CFPP is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Yoga Instructor, and Certified Dietary Manager currently residing in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She received her CDM certification in 2005 and became a Registered dietitian shortly after in Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from East Carolina University and is currently fulfilling requirements to graduate with a Master of Arts in Health & Wellness Coaching with an emphasis on Nutrition through Maryland University of Integrative Health. As both a Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietary Manager, Kelly recognizes the value of close working relationships between clinical and food service staff in clinical settings. Her professional areas of focus include regulatory agency compliance, quality service training, and providing a holistic approach to helping clients achieve health and wellness. In her personal life, she enjoys cooking, growing her own fruits and vegetables, volunteering within the community, practicing yoga and meditation, enjoying live music, and spending time outdoors. Kelly is excited and grateful to be of service as Treasurer of the Virginia Chapter of the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.
