We have donated $500 to be used for veterans for holiday and special events. We thank Bill Bauer for our involvement in this great holiday event. We will be setting up a date to contribute to The BackStoppers. We will be donating $2,500. Our website provider, Winning Technologies, was honored to have been selected as a Platinum Hire Vets Award Winner. Winning Technologies had always been a dedicated supporter of Veterans and Veterans Affairs and continue to give hiring opportunities to Veterans, their greatest resource. Congratulations Scott and Lynette. Speaking of Lynette Lewis, all of the veterans who attended the November membership meeting were honored with a free meal. Thanks Lynette. The activities committee will be meeting soon to discuss our cold weather events for the rest of the winter. If you have any ideas, please let us know. It was great seeing Sharon Apollo at our November meeting. She is slowly getting back to normal and has had a tough battle. The threatening weather had an effect on our November meeting. We have been averaging between 50 to 60 members. On election night, we only had 35 in attendance. Our newly elected members of our BOD are Jerry Grimmer, Dan Kelly, and John Walling. We thank Bart McNail for also running for the 2019 board of directors. They join Paula Goodrich and Dennis McBee in our leadership roles. Our winners for November were Carolyn and Rich Sutorius. They donated their $32 winnings to our toy drive. Thanks guys.

The Mungenast Classic Automobiles & Motorcycles Museum is a permanent, two-building display dedicated to celebrating the memory of Dave Mungenast, Sr. and his family s passion for everything on wheels. Founded with Dave Sr. s donation of his collection of vehicles, their expanded facilities now include the next generation of Mungenasts favorite bikes and automobiles, including many rare items. The family s collection has something to pique the interest of every enthusiast, young or old. It started at our October meeting where many of our members brought varied items to be distributed at the airport during the holidays. This information was supplied by Syl Biermann. In addition to those generous club members, Scott and Lynette Lewis matched the club's $500 donation with another $500 to purchase food. Syl and Judy Biermann and Mark and Sandra Carey bought all the necessary non-perishable food for the seventy bags, (baskets as the USO called them), They met at the Biermann home one afternoon and filled each bag with nine items. All the "baskets" and the five checks that were made out to the USO were delivered at our appointed time on Monday, October 29th. The five checks were donations from Mike Lechwar, Jason Gould, Cyndi Trauernicht, Bill and Donna Bauer, and Steve and Virginia Schneider. Needless to say, the folks at the USO warehouse were extremely pleased to receive such a generous donation. Because we had about $62 remaining from the money used to buy the non-perishable food, the BOD's gave us another $38, so we can purchase $100 of snacks and cookies and donate that to the USO for use during the Christmas season. 5 December 2018 Page 5 O ur club participated in two Veteran s Day parades, one on November 9th and one on November 11th. The cold fall weather contributed to a low turnout in both parades, including cars from our club. At the Arnold parade, we were met with a very cold and windy day. This relatively short parade took us to the Fox school complex where we were greeted by the students and treated to lunch also provided by the students. Afterwards, we attended an outstanding presentation at their auditorium. As we headed home, a few snowflakes bounced off our windshields. At the Florissant parade, it was about ten degrees warmer but still unseasonably cold. Kevin Hall of Bommarito was in attendance with a military truck and our own Dan Kelly was driving a monster F-250 provided by Bommarito. This parade was a little longer and had a great turnout by the residents. After the parade, we headed to Mattingly s for lunch. As we left, we were under a winter weather advisory and again saw a few snowflakes. We thank Syl Biermann and Dan Kelly (both vets) for our involvement at these parades to honor our veterans. The club s total cost is over $30 per adult including attendance prizes but we will pick up most of the cost of the evening. The charge for members is $10 and $12 for adult non-members. We will need a confirmed head count by the first week in January. A confirmation will be in a form of a check for the cost of your party. You must be paid in advance to attend. Please sign up at any meeting or contact Syl Biermann at if you plan to attend. J ust an early reminder. We will NOT have a membership meeting in January. It will be replaced by our Awards Banquet. We will resume our normal schedule in February. We will have our BOD meeting as usual in January. A s you may have noticed, we have dropped the classified section of our newsletter for this month. We will start anew in January so if you want your current ad picked up, You will need you to notify me. We will also start running the Area Events section as soon as information starts coming in. 7 December 2018 Page 7 T his annual event is near and dear to most of our long time members. Our toy drive, to benefit Toys for Tots, was a special time to our dear friend, Cindy Ahrens. She worked most of the year on this project, sometimes getting us a good deal on toys during the summer months. I m sure that she would be pleased that we carry on this tradition. This year, we moved our shopping date to late November to start filling the Sinclair truck with toys. Last year we decided that the fiscal year for our toy drive would run from December until November. This will work better for us and for the Marines who distribute the toys. Again this year, we did our shopping at the Walmart located at the Gravois Bluffs. With donations from our members and from our club treasury, along FORDS UNLIMITED with donated toys, we took $2,800 worth of toys to fill two trucks at the Sinclair dealership. We followed our holiday event with a trip to a local restaurant for lunch. We thank all of our generous members, those who helped with the shopping and to Jim Biermann for organizing toy shopping.
