3 Angela King President & CEO What a Year! I m sure you ve heard the expression, making lemonade out of lemons. That s what 2017 was all about for Volunteers of America Texas supporters and many of our neighbors. Hurricane Harvey dealt a devastating blow to southeast Texas, leaving thousands of people picking up the pieces of their lives and seeking a second chance. At the same time, VOA Texas was in the middle of hosting its inaugural golf tournament, Shoot Fore a Second Chance, and YOU afforded us the opportunity to immediately provide relief to those in the disaster area. Last year, our goal of diversifying funding streams came to fruition not only through the implementation of our annual golf tournament, but by the many partnerships that we ve acquired through disaster recovery. We ve been in the love business for more than 100 years, and now we re in the disaster recovery business too. As you will see throughout this report, it has allowed us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the community in a new way, and help more people than ever before. 3

4 Volunteerism In April 2018, nearly 300 employees from Apple Inc., convened onto the VOA Texas Oak Springs Senior Hosing site in Austin, TX to restripe the parking lot, wash windows, paint the iron fence and install a dog run (pictured) for residents. 4
