DID YOU KNOW? Many more individuals than ever before are working multiple jobs to make ends meet. This puts many families in crisis, unable to provide basic care. 15.4% of children live in poverty 6.

4 DID YOU KNOW? Many more individuals than ever before are working multiple jobs to make ends meet. This puts many families in crisis, unable to provide basic care. 15.4% of children live in poverty 6.5% live in extreme poverty 1 in 7 households are food insecure, and many will not eat at all today. In New Jersey 15.4% of children (under 17 years old) live in poverty and 6.5% live in extreme poverty. In 2013, the need for Catholic Charities services was significant. Family crisis has increased, including domestic abuse, chronic neglect of children and parents feeling insecure about what the future will hold. Many children come home after school to an empty house, often waiting hours for a parent to come home from work. There s been a 25% increase in the need for our Counseling services, including Individual, Child and Family Counseling.

5 2013 HIGHLIGHTS & ACHIEVEMENTS 223,463 50,826 Children, parents and individuals served in over 223,463 hours of Service. $750,000 More than $750,000 in DIRECT financial assistance was provided to more than 625 households affected by Sandy. 145,000 As one of the LARGEST social service agencies in New Jersey, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen provided more than 145,000 hours of Counseling Services for children, families and individuals. 6,696 6,696 days of care given to Boarder Babies, first abandoned at hospitals and placed by Catholic Charities with loving families for care until adoption. 23,277 1,435 dedicated volunteers contributed 23,277 hours of service. 100% 100% of our Applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ( DACA ) were approved by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
