Implementing Partner: Quake Volunteers 1.2 Project summary: This project aims to improve health problem by providing health service in the emergency situation of the health and well-being of people in communities affected by flood in Nepal. According to data available around 4000 households has displaced due to flood. At the international level, Quake Volunteer collaborates with different organization and individual groups.
2 At the national level, Quake Volunteers collaborates with the local volunteer s groups and, member organisations. Since, Quake volunteers is the secretariat of this groups and members. SECTION 3: Purpose and Outline of the Project Description of the disaster context and the problems that the project will address: The massive flood throughout the country jolted Nepal and especially Tarai reason. Recent data estimates more than families are directly affected by the flood. Till date more than 75 people are dead, 100 of people are injured, 13 peoples are missing and Many are still unaccounted for. After the flood, all basic rights are violated and government is struggling to ensure better standard of lives. Health conditions particularly became challenges as everything has destroyed. Women, children primarily are affected and their health conditions needs to be improved. All drinking resources has destroyed; peoples are getting difficulties to get normal food rather balance diet. Hence, the possibilities of getting danger health problem is maximum. In this context, Quake Volunteer intends to improve and create better health conditions. At the end of the project period, it is expected that the peoples of the community get health service and that prevents the upcoming health problems in flood affected places The collaborative strategies adopted by the local group and other volunteer group members make them capable enough to response the upcoming health problem on respected places. 3.1 State the overall goal of the project. Goal: To provide emergency health service and health awareness in the flood affected community in order to protect the peoples from health problem and prevent them from health upcoming health problem. 3.2 What are the objectives of the project? The project has the following objectives to be achieved by the end of the project period: 1. To provide emergency health service to the flood affected people in flood affected community 2. To prevent from disease occurs after disaster like flood 3. To aware flood affected peoples to be careful for their health concern after flood 3.3 Primary beneficiaries of the project. Beneficiaries of this emergency health response project will be all flood affected peoples who are facing health problem. 3.4 Work plan: Project activities. 1. Health Camp and Medicine Distribution: Emergency health camp will be install for short term based on population of the community and affected area. Health camp will
4 be of one or two days in each places. Medicine will be provided free of cost for flood affected peoples according to disease. 2. Mobile Health team mobilization: Emergency team of health worker will be stand by at youth development centre, Itahari with pack of medicine; the team will be immediately move for urgent situation. One or two doctors will be on each team with motorcycle. 3. Health Awareness: during health camp awareness program will be provided to the community so as to be prevent from upcoming disease after disaster like flood. 3.5 Project Location: Health Support for flood survivors will be focussed on flood affected area of 4 district which are Saptari, Sunsari, Jhapa and MorangRisk Assessment Very unfavourable climatic conditions such as heavy and continuous rain fall and massive flood might hinder in implementing regular and planned activities.
