The success of our club and its fellowship is in the strength of relationships among our members. Many times we may sit down for our lunch meeting together and never get the opportunity to get to know even those at our table. The Pass the Wheel concept has been designed to give each member the opportunity to introduce themselves to those at the table, while all enjoy their lunch. Simply read the directions on the back, take the wheel, introduce yourself, including what you do and how many years you ve been in the club, and pass it around to the next person. Hopefully each member will get the opportunity to get to know everyone there, and you will make new friends as a result. Sister Cities Save the Date Fellow Rotarian, Dr. Jane Cahaly, the South Carolina Sister Cities State Coordinator, invites all Rotarians to Save the Date for the annual South Carolina Sister Cities meeting to be held in Greenville on October 22 at the Children's Museum of the Upstate. 3 Message From President Charles Warne October Birthdays Those of us who attended the Rotary Club meeting on October 12 th witnessed a wonderful program on the Textile Industry; which is well and vibrant. Many thanks to Charles Little and Brian DiMarco for arranging the presentation by Dr. Blanton Godfrey. Judy Prince and her team are working very hard on the Pucks for Polio event to take place at the BI-LO Center the evening of February 19 th. This is a community event with lots of fun along with the ice hockey game. Please mark your calendar. Our club is striving to be a 100% Paul Harris Fellow club and to this goal we are allocating Paul Harris points (Money) to those members who will contribute towards the $1000 amount needed to be a Paul Harris Fellow. Example: if you have paid in $500 to the Rotary Foundation towards being a Paul Harris Fellow and you agree to pay in $250 the Club will provide 250 points so that you reach the $1000 level. Please consider taking advantage of this offer. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Fellowship Outing on October 26th at the Furman University Golf Course. This event is our regular meeting replacement. Rotary Exchange students will be assisting with the Boo!seum weekend at the GSCI Information desk and our Rotary programs will be represented by Rotarians Charlie Slate, Myles Golden, George Fletcher, and Kris Atwood in their various capacities for panels on Community Collaboration and Educating Tomorrow s Leaders at the South Carolina Sisters Cities International Conference on October 22nd.
