8 School Program Preparation for next year Administration: timetables, class lists, staffing, etc. Teachers: unit plans, lesson plans, PD, transitions, etc. Families: don t even worry about supplies enjoy summer! First Day Buses arrive to school covering all areas in Calgary, which includes Cochrane Students greeted by staff and guided to homerooms Students do not even need to bring a lunch; school-wide BBQ

9 School Program Bus routes sent to parents in late August. This will include: Pick up times Pickup/ drop off locations Route reverses Drop off times vary; check Southland website for delays September is a trial for efficiency Bus drivers are consistent throughout the year Will contact you if you did not indicate bussing needs Bus contact: Colleen Hnatiuk (chnatiuk@foothillsacademy.org)

11 School Program General Information School calendar: Tentative copy available tonight, confirmed in September School hours: 8:35am-3:25pm Monday to Thursday, 8:35am-12:40pm on Friday Lunchtime: 12:10pm-12:50pm, lunches eaten in homerooms School store, Subway and pizza days Nut-free School Recess: Twice a day for Team One Supplies: Everything but graphing calculators and Foothills gym strip Counselling, OT, and SLP: By referral Extra curricular activities: Mornings before homeroom, lunchtime and after school Homework?

15 Family Commitment 1. The idea behind Family Commitment is that all families (and staff) help with the fundraising efforts of Foothills Academy Society. Because of gaming licenses, some events are organized directly by the parents association (FAPA) and some are organized by the staff. The money raised from all fundraising goes into the bursary fund to ensure that financial circumstances don t exclude a family from coming here. A copy of your Family Commitment is on your chair.

16 Family Commitment 2. Trevor Anderson, the Business Administrator will meet individually with each new family to go over the Family Commitment and other financial/administrative matters. 3. For merchandise donations for auctions, we are open throughout the summer and can accept donations at any time. We appreciate receiving them sooner rather than later. Ideas for potential merchandise items are on your chair.

17 Family Commitment 4. Two golf tournaments are coming up - one in June & one in September. We are looking for sponsors, golfers and donations. Information about both events is on the back table. 5. We will be looking for volunteers for the events. We are just starting to use an online volunteer management system. You will receive an with more details soon.

18 Communications We send out information through our School E-News. If you have not received any of them, talk to Janice to make sure we have the right address. During school year, look for it every Tuesday in your . Separate E-News from Community Services. Sign up separately.

19 Foothills Academy Parents Association Who - a community of concerned parents dependent on another for mutual support What - advocacy, parent communication (buddy systems, parent meetings), social and extracurricular events, supporting the school through various volunteer opportunities, coordinates and supports the parents fundraising efforts for the school bursary fund through the major annual fundraising events Car Raffle Fall Funtasia/ Family Fun Night Calgary Marathon Casino

20 Foothills Academy Parents Association When - 7pm, second Tuesday of every month is the FAPA meeting, open to all parents Where - in the Teacher s lounge Volunteers are always needed - no experience necessary!
