2 Provide easy access to information and support with a Patient Information Point We know that being diagnosed with prostate cancer can be a very difficult, confusing and emotional time for men and those close to them. We want to help you make sure that men, and their partners attending your clinics, have access to the information they need, at the time they need it. Whether that s to help make an informed choice about treatment options or to provide support for any side effects they may experience, we can help through the free provision of our Information Standard accredited publications and resources. Patients, and their loved ones, can browse the information and take leaflets home to read in their own time. Maintaining the Information Point We would like to work in collaboration with you to keep the Information Point well stocked and up-to-date. You will receive a starter pack of information for your stand with your initial order. You can top this up with additional information from our publications order page: prostatecanceruk.org/publications We re also looking at introducing the option of trained Prostate Cancer UK volunteers, who can help replenish leaflets and make sure the Information Point is tidy and well presented. Please indicate on the order form whether this is something you d be interested in. Our volunteers may also be able to signpost patients to other services and support. 3 About the Patient Information Points The Patient Information Points come in two designs a free-standing floor stand or a wall-mounted stand so you can choose the one best suited for your department. Floor Stand: 650 mm wide x 500 mm deep x 1200 mm high Number of pockets: 12 x A5 (also takes A4) With detachable wheels Wall Stand: 800 mm wide x 40 mm deep x 1200 mm high Number of pockets: 12 x A5 Each Information Point comes with an accompanying pack of our most popular titles, this includes: Pre diagnosis information for men who have not yet been diagnosed with prostate cancer including information on signs and symptoms. Prostate cancer including information on living with prostate cancer and supporting someone with prostate cancer. Treatment leaflets on treatment options including hormone therapy, common side effects including emotional, and sexual side effects and information on available support. General information including full lists of the other publications we provide and services we offer to support men and their families. Our Specialist Nurses Our Specialist Nurses are complementary to the fantastic work you do; they are an extra resource for your patients. They are available via telephone, and web chat to respond to any queries or concerns from men, and their loved ones, about prostate disease. Many health professionals find our Specialist Nurses an easy source of expertise. Our nurses have backgrounds in urology, oncology, primary care and academia. Specialist services Our team also offers more specialist services, such as One-to-one Support, which enables patients to speak to trained volunteers who s had a similar personal experience, and Fatigue Support a ten week telephone service helping men manage their fatigue. You and your patients can contact the team in confidence on Call from Monday to Friday 9am-6pm, Wednesday 10am-8pm. Calls are recorded for training purposes only. Confidentiality is maintained between callers and Prostate Cancer UK.
