3 Welcome to our home A warm welcome to Douglas House. We are located in the beautiful fishing town of Brixham on the south Devon coast. You will find our home has a cheerful and friendly atmosphere with many of our residents choosing to take part in activities and trips. You re very welcome to visit us to see Douglas House for yourself. Our residents make sure there is always something going on! A very good team of support workers who support my needs and aspirations. Joanne, resident
4 The right support The support we offer at Douglas House is based on what our residents tell us they want. We will always ask what you would like to do or achieve. You can trust us to know what we are doing. As a charity we have been providing support to people for over 60 years and we now work at over 200 sites in the UK. Our friendly team are fully trained to provide 24 hour care and support.
5 Great facilities Douglas House is well equipped and comfortable - somewhere you can relax and feel at home. Our facilities include: a quiet room physiotherapy/activities room lovely well - maintained garden We have a domestic team who make sure our home is thoroughly cleaned every day. Your room We have 29 bedrooms, eight of which have en-suite facilities. Most rooms have overhead hoists and can be adapted to your individual needs. You are very welcome to fully furnish your room or simply bring personal items. Our manager will be happy to discuss furnishing options with you. Dining choices At Douglas House we make sure mealtimes can be enjoyed by everyone. We offer different meal options that are designed to suit you. Our menus are planned by our residents and staff - you are welcome to contribute suggestions and ideas. Tell us about your favourite dish!
6 Enjoy activities At our home you ll have the chance to enjoy all sorts of activities we aim to make sure there is something for everyone, whether you want to socialise, exercise or learn new skills. Our residents have recently enjoyed arts and crafts, swimming and bingo. Our home is located in the small fishing port of Brixham, with its picturesque harbour and Berry Head Country Park, which has fantastic views of the Riviera coast and beyond. Guests always welcome We welcome visitors at any time - for a chat, a cup of tea or a meal. If your guests would like to stay we are happy to arrange accommodation.
7 A friendly team All our staff and volunteers are screened by the Disclosure and Barring Service before they start work with us. We also make sure new members of our team share our values and are reliable and trustworthy. At Douglas House our team includes men and women of different ages. Our service manager, Sam is supported by experienced team leaders. Our volunteers Our residents also enjoy the support of a fantastic team of trained volunteers. They help in so many ways - from assisting with activities and providing transport to simply being there for a chat. Everyone receives frequent training to make sure we always provide you with the highest quality service. Once you move in we will regularly get in touch with you to check you re happy with how we support you.
